🚨 SPEX HAS ENTERED THE EWE PEN! 🐏😂

Well, somebody seems pretty happy with his new living arrangements! 🤣

Spex officially joined the ladies today, which means the countdown to **March lambs** has begun here at Hiller Family Farm!

For those who enjoy a little farm math, sheep have an average gestation of about 147 days (roughly five months), so if breeding goes according to plan, we’ll be welcoming a new crop of Katahdin lambs this March. 🐑❤️

Now comes the waiting game: keeping an eye on our ewes, hoping (& managing) for healthy pregnancies, and dreaming about all those adorable little lambs bouncing around the pasture come spring.

We’ve checked body condition, weight (for 1st years), parasite load/FAMACHA score, hooves, and primed the gals with alfalfa.

All the data indicates that their bodies are feeling great (and hopefully ovulating more than one egg!). Meanwhile, Spex appears to be *very* pleased with how his first day is going. 😂

How exciting to have a volunteer tomato in our North Idaho conditions!! The Gold Nugget tomatoes are a determinate variety (no pruning necessary), and they are earlier fruiting!!

This tomato plant was a volunteer in the asparagus bed but I let it grow because free tomatoes. I’ve identified it as a Gold Nugget, the offspring of plants I bought last year from Hiller Family Farm. It’s definitely a keeper, I’ll try to save some seeds on purpose this year.

These sheep are coming from another local sheep owner, and **Hiller Family Farm is simply helping facilitate their placement**. They are healthy and ready to go to good homes where they can become part of a growing flock.

These sheep are being offered as a **gift**, with the hope of helping other homesteaders and small farmers get started with sheep without the significant upfront cost that can come with building a flock. Not all the sheep pictured are being rehomed, & some have already been reserved.
