BULL SHOUT OUT: The Bear of Holt Creek

The Bear of Holt Creek brings something a little different to the Bos Sires lineup.

Bear is a 100% grass-fed, homozygous polled, A2A2 Jersey bull bred by Ben Gotschall of Holt Creek Jerseys.

Sired by Holt Creek Corona, Bear carries a unique pedigree built around carefully selected Holt Creek maternal families, along with influences from North Coast, Netherhall Jerseys, Purely Pastured Holterholm genetics, and LIC New Zealand Jerseys.

More importantly, Bear comes from a program where cattle are expected to work on grass. Fertility, longevity, forage ability, structure, and overall functionality remain at the center of the breeding decisions behind him.

For producers looking for Jersey genetics selected with a practical, pasture-based system in mind, Bear is an exciting addition to the Bos Sires lineup.

Straws are currently available in the United States only.

We are glad to be working with Bos Sires to help spread functional genetics around the world!

BREEDER SHOUT OUT: Holt Creek Jerseys

This week’s breeder shout out goes to Ben Gotschall and Holt Creek Jerseys, a program built around functional, grass-based Jersey cattle.

Ben has spent decades developing Jersey genetics with an emphasis on fertility, longevity, forage ability, structural soundness, and cattle that can remain productive without excessive inputs.

Holt Creek has carefully developed and preserved cow families that fit that kind of system, while bringing in outside genetics that complement the program without losing the functionality they have worked to build.

Their cattle are expected to prove themselves in real-world conditions, and that practical, pasture-based approach is exactly why Holt Creek Jerseys fits so well within the Bos Sires network.

We are proud to represent Holt Creek Jerseys and the genetics Ben continues to develop.
