OUR PROJECT IN INDIA
A percentage of every sale at Dr. Bombay’s helps support our women’s education project in Darjeeling India, The Learning Tea. In 2010 the owner of Dr. Bombay’s started a scholarship program to support young women who could not afford to further their education. Dr. Bombay’s, its loyal customers, staff and supporters are sipping for scholarships. Each year we fully support up to 12 young women living in our center in Darjeeling with “life scholarships” that cover all living, school, medical, educational and fun activities and expenses. Our students success rate is at 100% of graduation and employment in their selected fields. Want to help? Here’s how..

The Learning Tea and Dr. Bombay’s need your support on August 31st for our first ever “Taste of India to go” dinner. We’ll have plenty of outside seating for you to enjoy your delicious dinner on site. As a sign of the times, we’re also offering a to go dinner option.

All proceeds go to The Learning Tea’s Life Scholarship Program! These dinners are our main source of fundraising for our students in Darjeeling, India. They are following all the health protocols at our center and are safe during this pandemic. Unlike before, we will not be able to accommodate any walk up orders the night of the dinner. Please buy your dinner ticket in advance so we can plan accordingly. Your help is greatly appreciated on so many levels and is being felt thousands of miles away. We miss you and hope to see your faces, even if they are partially covered with a mask!

This space includes a private entrance, our whimsical piano room, a restroom and our back patio garden. A sweet and savory escape for you, friends and family. Spread out in our piano room with a pot of hot tea and a delicious handmade assortment including sandwiches, quiche, cakes and baked delights. Presented on your own vintage china tiered tray in the backdrop of our whimsical, eclectic and inviting tea house. We'll make sure this afternoon experience will be one that'll make memories you can carry for the rest of the day and far beyond.

AT THIS TIME OUR PIANO ROOM WILL BE RENTED FOR PRIVATE HIGH TEA PARTIES ONLY. HIGH TEA WILL BE SERVED ON PERSONAL, INDIVIDUAL TIERED TRAYS, EACH GUEST WILL HAVE THEIR OWN TIERED TRAY OF FRESHLY BAKED GOODIES, ALL HIGH TEA TRAYS WILL BE READY AT THE START OF THE PARTY ON ONE TABLE FOR GUESTS TO TAKE AND SIT WHEREVER THEY FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE.

High Tea Deposit *

Your total bill is required upon booking. An electronic invoice will be emailed to you. Payment of that invoice can be made online or in person. We do not accept credit card payments by phone. Your total minus a 10% transaction fee is refundable up to 10 days prior to your High Tea reservation date.

High Tea Costs*

1-15 guests $470.00 (private room, includes patio)

16-20 guests $625.00 (private room, includes patio)

Cost applies to all guests including children.

Parking *

Dr. Bombay's is located at 1645 McLendon Avenue in Atlanta. Free, on-street parking is available along McLendon Avenue, Clifton Road and neighboring streets. Please do not park in the Fellini's Pizza or Candler Park Market parking lots.

Liability *

You must be at least 21 years of age to sign a reservation agreement. The person who signs the reservation agreement must be present at the time of the event. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Dr. Bombay's is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged personal items. Any guests refusing to sign the liability release form or have their temperature taken by our staff will not be permitted inside Dr. Bombay's underwater tea party. Please make sure your guests are aware of these precaution standards we are adhering to before your event. There will be no refunds issued for stubborn guests.

Welcome to Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party, a community tea house and the cornerstone for our international women's education program The Learning Tea . Nestled in Atlanta's historic Candler Park neighborhood, we've been serving up tea, desserts and lasting memories since 2007. Shortly after establishing Dr. Bombay's, owner Katrell Christie founded The Learning Tea, which continues to offer housing, educational and empowerment opportunities for young women in the majestic Indian town of Darjeeling.

Due to Covid-19 we are currently open Thursday-Sunday 9am-1pm for walk up service. We are offering a limited menu through our Warm Scone Window. Come by for scones, baked goods, teas, coffee, samosas , quiche and sandwiches.
