Smothered Pork Steak, Cabbage & Potatoes
Most people don’t realize cabbage can taste this good.
Ingredients
Seasoned pork steaks
1 small cabbage, sliced
Russet potatoes, sliced
Worcestershire sauce
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
1 packet beef stew mix
2 cups beef broth
Extra seasoning for potatoes, if desired
Cornbread or rolls for serving
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned pork steaks and brown them lightly for about 2 minutes per side.
You are not trying to cook them all the way through yet.
3. Remove the pork steaks from the skillet and set aside.
4. Spread the sliced cabbage across the bottom of the skillet. Add a few sprinkles of Worcestershire sauce.
5. Layer the sliced russet potatoes over the cabbage and season lightly if desired.
6. In a mixing bowl, combine:
1 packet Lipton onion soup mix
1 packet beef stew mix
2 cups beef broth
Stir well until fully mixed.
7. Place the pork steaks back into the skillet on top of the vegetables.
8. Pour the broth mixture evenly over everything.
9. Cover the skillet with a lid or foil and bake for 1½ hours, until the pork is tender and the potatoes are cooked through.
10. Serve hot with cornbread or rolls.
And honestly, this meal is hard to beat with a big piece of cornbread on the side.
