Many of y’all have been reaching out to hear what’s been going on at Levity. Well folks, we’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last couple of months, letting the farm & farmers rest from the incessant hustle that market farming has demanded of us for the last decade. We’ve been enjoying lots of family time, exploring local hikes, learning new skills, reflecting on our past, and building plans for our future.

That future includes an expanded CSA program, infrastructure upgrades, and further development into the forever farm of our dreams.

We’ll keep y’all updated! For now, here are a couple of low-key late-Summer snaps to show y’all we’re still out here growing.

Hey farm friends!

Going to let our backfield (Brigadoon) rest for the fall and winter. We will cover crop to build some good healthy soil. This winter we aim to re-design and re-develop our plots back here. Very excited about that planning session.

Getting ready to plant for fall in our front field (Sunnydale). Most of our fall crops will be in tunnels and some crops will last into winter. Turnips, lettuce, carrots, collards, kohlrabi, oooo yeah can’t wait.

It has been very healthy for us to take this break from late Summer markets. We are getting projects done, having lots of fun with the kids, planning the Forest and Farm School, and plotting & scheming for some cool new long-term developments for Levity Farms.

❓WHAT IS A FOOD HUB ❓

Great question! Food hubs can serve different purposes, but CCFA's Local Food Hub is:

🛒 A place where you can purchase local produce! We help local growers (your fellow community members) sell their excess harvest and this is a win-win-win: the grower makes a little bit of money, we keep that valuable food out of the landfill, and you get the freshest veggies around!

🫶 Open to everyone! We don't care about your annual income, the color of your skin, your political leanings, your spiritual beliefs, or who your grandaddy is. All are welcome at the Food Hub!

Our mission is to strengthen our local food system and we are doing that by supporting local growers so that there is more fresh, healthy, local food readily available in our community. Swing by and check us out!

Getting the farm cleaned up and organized. We have missed seeing y’all at market, but it’s also been real nice spending the weekend with the kids. We are getting planted up for fall. Not rushing it, not stressin it. Just enjoying the coming change of seasons.

So, y’all know how we talk about the farm as integral to the kids’ education, right?

Well!

Tomorrow, our kids & some of their friends will be selling fresh flower bouquets at Brasstown Farmer’s Market NC. Bouquets will be picked, arranged, and sold entirely by our kids, so come out tomorrow and support the next generation of farmers & entrepreneurs.

We will also have some of our organically-grown heirlooms, canning tomatoes, & mini eggplant for sale. Everything comes from our small farm here in Blairsville.

Big time tomato time! We will be at Union County Farmers Market tomorrow (Saturday) from 8-1. We won’t have these bad boys for long so make sure to load up now. Organically grown heirloom local tomatoes. Deals on big orders. Build your own quart. We are slowing down after tomatoes so see you tomorrow! Woo!
