Today the world pauses for elephants. We pause for one in particular.
His name is Long'uro, and he lives at Reteti Elephant Sanctuary in northern Kenya, where keepers rise before dawn to feed, walk, and simply sit with the young elephants in their care. We adopted him because a name and a face change everything. Conservation isn't only a statistic and Long'uro connects us personally to the cause.
World Elephant Day began in 2012 and now unites more than 100 wildlife organizations under a single idea, one that reads like a promise this year: bringing the world together to help elephants. The reasons remain urgent. Poaching. Habitat lost to farms, roads, and mines. Herds pressed against growing human settlements. Elephants living out their years in circuses and staged tourism.
So we keep doing the small, steady thing we can do. We source tea worth savoring, and a portion of every purchase supports elephant sanctuaries. You brew a cup on a Thursday morning in your own kitchen, and somewhere in Samburu, a keeper walks a young elephant through the acacia.
