There’s a better way to raise chickens…

most people just don’t know it yet.

We used to do what everyone else did:
Stationary coop, muddy run, and constant cleanup.

Until we realized we could raise healthier birds and simplify our setup.

Our pasture-based system changed everything:
— Cleaner + healthier birds
— More nutritious eggs
— Less work for us
— works with the land for healthier grass

And the best part?
It’s simple, budget-friendly, and beginner friendly.

Over 10,000 families have used our hoop coop blueprints + build video to do the same.

Chicken math is real and I refuse to believe otherwise. 😂

You start with a few hens because you just want fresh eggs. Then you realize you need a few different breeds because obviously you need blue eggs... and green eggs... and those fluffy chickens are pretty cute too.

Before you know it, you're standing outside calculating how many more chickens you could reasonably add while convincing yourself that this is all completely necessary.

Some people collect shoes. Some people collect handbags.

I apparently collect chickens. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tell me I’m not the only one. How many chickens did you START with, and how many do you have now? 👇🏼

Chicken molting season has officially hit Cotton River Farm, which means feathers are EVERYWHERE and some of my prettiest hens are looking a little questionable. 😂

If this is your first fall with an adult flock, it can be a little alarming when your chickens suddenly start losing feathers and laying fewer eggs.

The good news? Often what you’re seeing is completely normal.

➡️ Swipe through for what molting looks like, what I do to support our flock and the signs that tell me it might be something else.

📌 SAVE this one because when your coop suddenly looks like a feather pillow exploded, you’re going to want it.

What started as my dad trying to build a better chicken coop became something so much bigger than either of us expected.

His dream was to find a way for this farm to create income that could eventually be passed down to his eight grandkids, including my daughter, and give them the opportunity to start building generational wealth of their own.

Our Hoop Coop Blueprints gave us a way to start doing exactly that.

In just one year, that one coop helped us turn Cotton River Farm into a six-figure business and build a community of more than 70,000 chicken keepers here on Instagram.

I’m incredibly grateful for every single person who has purchased a set of blueprints, shared one of our posts, sent our account to a friend, or simply followed along.

You’re helping us build something that reaches far beyond chickens and I will never take that for granted. ❤️

Maybe the millennial dream was never about doing more.

Maybe we’re all just tired of feeling like we have to be available all the time.

There’s something about walking outside, leaving your phone behind, gathering fresh eggs, pulling weeds from the garden, and having chickens follow you around that makes everything else feel a little less urgent.
I still have emails to answer, notifications waiting, businesses to run, and a never-ending list of things that need my attention.

I just don’t want any of those things to take up so much space that I miss the life happening right in front of me.

Turns out, a little dirt under my nails and a few chickens at my feet might be exactly the kind of rich I was looking for. 🤍
