About WAWA:

In 1995, WAWA arose from community efforts
to halt discriminatory waste water treatment practices in West Atlanta. Since that time, WAWA has been working in partnership with members of the West Atlanta community to protect greenspace and water quality in West Atlanta while educating youth and adult residents about important environmental issues that affect their communities.

What a WAWA Week...it kicked off with 362 volunteers on MLK Day of Service who showed love to the 26-acre Outdoor Activity Center and Hartnett Community Garden! Thanks to all of the groups and individuals who braved the cold to make it a day on and not a day off! Even the kids found a way to contribute!

West Atlanta WATER News to Use....

The City of Atlanta Department of Watershed Management is investigating reports of discolored water within the water distribution system. The discoloration is only aesthetic (such as taste, odor and color) and the water is safe to drink and use.

DWM personnel are flushing hydrants in the system and monitoring water quality. DWM is working diligently to address this matter and will provide updates as they become available. Updates will be posted on www.atlantaga.gov and on www.atlantawatershed.org as they occur.

Sign up for Notify ATL to receive real-time updates to your home, mobile or business phone by text and voice. Also stay tuned to local news outlets and connect with DWM on Facebook and Twitter .

How fitting that a picture of the Atlanta Black Crackers surfaced on FB today as WAWA is embarking on an amazing project with the Bush Mountain Neighborhood Association, the Oakland City Community Organization, GA STAND-UP, and many other partners to revitalize and commemorate the team's old practice lot, a part of the Outdoor Activity Center! !
