Happy Monday Farm friends, I never know when the last post BBMA (before Baby Merle arrives) will be ... but we're still hanging in there for the time being.

In case you didn't see our stories over the weekend, we have about half the trays of onions, plus zucchini & summer squash, lettuce, romanesco and a few other random things that are sprouting in the greenhouse. I planted another almost 30 trays of things last week and Wednesday I'll start working on the this weeks round of seeds. Matt is also hoping to get the plastic on one of the tunnels as long as the wind stays calm (you don't think 3-5mph is that strong until you are holding a huge sheet of plastic in the air, lol). But otherwise, things are still moving forward slowly around the farm, we need some dry sunny weather for Matt to really be able to get into the field to prep them.

Also, we are still continuing to accept applications for our CSA shares, both sizes and locations until we are sold out or until the May 31st application & payment deadline. I've included a quick sheet of info for our CSA but if you would like a full packet with all the information & application, just send us an email to [email protected].

Also, we are teaming up with a farm friend of ours Troll Bridge Farm, to provide you with some options for a meat and egg CSA. This is now available to BOTH the Attica and Bergen locations for pickup on the same day as your shares. I have attached their information sheet but they would bring their CSA shares to the farm (or Bergen location) to do pickup at the same time as you would pick up your vegetables. If you have questions, Lisa has left her information on the flier so feel free to contact her or check out their website & pages for more information. We have known them for several years now as they also attend the Perry Farmers Market with us and their meats are delicious (we love their meat, especially their chicken wings!).

Lastly, for our BERGEN Pickup location people ONLY, we also share the park with another CSA from Bergen ... Something Old Something New. They have been with us for 3 years and are excited to bring some new options for their flower CSA (see attached) and they will have the same pickup times (Tues 4:30-5:30) and location (Hickory Park) as we do. They have beautiful arrangements and are such a great addition to your table.

Thursday was our 1st day in the greenhouse this year! With the help of my mother inlaw, I was able to plant some onions, cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, lettuce, and romanesco planted. It may not look like a lot of trays, but just those few trays hold over 1500 seeds! Crazy, isn't it??? Yesterday I did 9 more trays of onions (each tray contains over 220 seeds). I think we're almost caught up on what we wanted to have planted in the 1st two weeks of March.

Quick reminders on a couple things, 1) we still have half & full CSA shares available in Bergen and Attica. It's been great seeing our returning members applications come in and then receiving new members too. We love to share our produce with others and this is one of our favorite ways to do it, through our CSA! If you need more info, feel free to email us at [email protected] for a full packet.

2) Don't forget that tomorrow is another day of Maple weekends at Merle Maple Farm from 10am-4pm both this weekend (19th & 20th) and next weekend (25th & 26th). In case you are wondering, we just went over 4,000 gallons of syrup this season so far - Lyle says it's about 45 percent of a normal crop. Just sayin' - we're not done yet!!😃

We're watching the forecast closely for next week in hopes that it'll be warm enough at night that we can finally get into the greenhouse to start planting! We will be sure to take y'all on the journey as always.

Hi Farm Friends!

Happy March!! We are officially open to the public, so here is your opportunity to share with your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers about your love for Merle’s Fresh Produce CSA! We will continue to accept applications until we are sold out or until the May 31st application & payment deadline. We have included in this post a simple flier to share but if you would like a full packet with all the information & application, just send us an email to [email protected]. We have also included pictures for examples of what would could be included in a full share for the 3 busiest months of the summer and pictures of both what half share and full shares can contain to compare amounts.

On a produce side of things, if you are in need of red potatoes, let us know as we still have some in cold storage. They are 10lbs for $5 and 50lbs for $15. Just either email back or post a comment here with your order and we will get it together and set up a time for pickup.

🚜 It's National CSA Week for 2022! 🚜

What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community-Supported Agriculture. You are supporting our family farm by purchasing your share up-front which in turn helps us purchase supplies and seeds to get a jump start on the season.

How many weeks do I get a share?

This year we will be offering a 16 week CSA starting the last week of June and ending the 2nd week of October.

What does a share contain?

Your share will give you a box each week of freshly picked produce to share with your family depending on the time of the season. We have a wide variety of items grown on the farm and we list them all in the information packet you'll receive. If there's something you don't like or items you live, there's spaces on the application to list them.

How do I know which size to choose?

Our Full Share generally feeds 4-6 people depending on how much of a veggie lover you are. The Half Share option feeds 1-3 people and is perfect for smaller families or couples.

We've gotten a bunch of applications in already but remember previous members get first availability until March 1st. So if you have been in our CSA previously and haven't sent in your application yet, make sure you do it soon to hold your spot.

We've been busy organizing seeds lately as we get ready to head into the greenhouse soon!

It’s official! We’re ready for the CSA 2022 year to begin!

If you were a part of our CSA last year, you should have an email in your inbox. If you didn’t receive it, please let us know and we will send it again. We added a very short 6 question survey and would love your feedback so make sure to click on the link in the email. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

The Farm Stand is officially closed for the year!

We do still have an abundance of red potatoes available in 10lb and 50lb bags for ordering ahead. If you would like to order some either message us through Facebook messenger or text the Farm Stand phone at (585-708-1465) with your order and we'll get back to you with when it will be filled and pricing.

We are working on the 2022 CSA launch as well and hope to have it to last year’s members within the week (so be watching your email inboxes). Our previous CSA members get first round of available shares as a thank you for their continued support.

However, if you are new and would like to be added to our email list (for a few weeks later when the CSA launch goes to the general public), send us an email to [email protected]. Then we'll email you late February or early March with all the information and applications.
