Reclaiming habitat, one acre at a time.

We recently restored a portion of a CRP field that had been overtaken by Amur corktree, autumn olive, and volunteer pines. By removing these invasives, native grasses and forbs can once again thrive and provide quality wildlife habitat.

The job isn't finished yet—we'll be back for follow-up treatments to ensure these invasives stay gone.
If your CRP field, timber, pasture, or wildlife habitat is being taken over by invasive trees and brush, now is the time to get on the schedule.

Spent the day on a new client’s farm in southern Illinois and it was great seeing the amount of work this landowner has already put into improving his property.

From pollinator plantings along waterways, ag fields, and driveway buffer strips, it’s clear he cares about creating quality habitat and improving the overall health of his farm. We always enjoy working with landowners who are passionate about making their property better year after year.

Even with all the progress already made, bush honeysuckle is still trying to reclaim areas of the timber — which is something we see all across the Midwest. That’s where we come in. Habitat improvement is a long-term process, and building relationships with landowners over the years allows us to continue improving farms one project at a time.

Whether it’s invasive species control, pollinator establishment, prescribed fire, timber improvement, or wildlife habitat management, we’re here to help take your property to the next level. No property is too big or too small.

A great habitat project doesn’t have to be on hundreds of acres—even 6 acres can make a huge difference.

This landowner had nearly 6 acres of timber behind his home inside the city limits, bordering city property, and it was heavily overrun with bush honeysuckle, privet, and autumn olive. After years of trying to fight it back himself, we stepped in during January 2025 and cleared the woods with chainsaw work and herbicide treatments on all invasives.

In summer 2025, we followed up with another round of glyphosate treatment on the honeysuckle. Last week, we planted 75 hardwood trees and 25 dogwoods, while the homeowner added 50 more native shrubs himself.

We had hoped to complete a prescribed burn before planting, but conditions didn’t allow it, so we’ll be burning these woods in early 2027—and the results should be incredible. We’re already seeing great native response with pokeweed, ragweed, beggar’s lice, goldenrod, and more coming back strong.

Restoring native habitat takes time, but the results are worth it. If your property is overrun with invasives and you’re ready to make it better, let’s talk.

Burn season for us is officially wrapped up here in Illinois, and I just want to take a minute to say how thankful I am for the landowners who trust me with their farms.

There’s a lot that goes into prescribed fire, and it’s not something I take lightly. Every acre burned is another step toward better habitat, healthier timber, and stronger wildlife populations. Seeing these properties improve year after year—and watching clients have success in the fall—makes it all worth it.

Now we shift gears.

Late spring is all about getting food plots in the ground, maintaining clover and alfalfa stands, and setting things up for a strong growing season. Before long, we’ll roll right into summer work—cutting and spraying invasives like bush honeysuckle, Japanese honeysuckle, autumn olive, and privet to keep these farms moving in the right direction.

If you’ve been thinking about improving your property, now is the time to get on the schedule.

Just wrapped up a 2-day tree planting down in southern Missouri.

We planted 300 3-gallon native trees including white oak, swamp white oak, black oak, post oak, pecan, dogwood, wild plum, and chokecherry. Every one of these species plays a role in improving habitat, diversity, and long-term value of the property.
This marks the 3rd planting I’ve completed for this landowner over the past 2 years, and I truly appreciate the continued trust he’s put in me to help improve his farm year after year.

Building better habitat doesn’t happen overnight—it takes a plan, consistency, and the right approach.

If you’re looking to take your property to the next level, let’s get to work.

🔥 Spring Burning Season is Rolling 🔥

I just want to take a minute to thank all of my great clients who have trusted me to burn their properties this season. So far, we’ve successfully completed 300+ acres across multiple farms, and it’s been awesome to see the results already taking shape.

Prescribed fire is one of the most powerful tools we have for land management. It helps:
✔️ Improve native habitat
✔️ Control invasive species
✔️ Promote new, high-quality forage
✔️ Create better bedding and hunting opportunities

There’s nothing better than seeing a property come back to life after a good burn.

I truly appreciate every landowner who puts their trust in me to manage their ground the right way.
If you’ve been thinking about improving your property, now is the time to start planning. Burning done correctly and safely can completely change the future of your farm.

📩 Feel free to reach out if you’d like to get on the schedule or talk about a plan for your property.
