🌿🐹 CAPYBARA FACTS! 🐹🌿

Did you know the capybara is the LARGEST RODENT IN THE WORLD?! 😲

Here are a few fun facts about our adorable, chill friends:

💦 Water babies! Capybaras are excellent swimmers and can even hold their breath underwater for several minutes!

🥕Veggie lovers! They are herbivores and love munching on grasses, plants, fruits, and veggies.

🦋Social butterflies! Capybaras are very social animals and usually live in groups.

😴 Professional relaxers! They love lounging in the water and soaking up the day. Talk about living your best life! 😂

🦷 Those teeth keep growing! Like other rodents, a capybara’s front teeth continuously grow, so they need to chew to keep them trimmed.

🌎 🇧🇷 South American natives! Capybaras are native to Central and South America and are especially common around wetlands, rivers, and ponds.

And our favorite fact… they’re just REALLY so sweet!!💟

You can see these incredible animals up close during our Safari Wagon Rides at Choctafaula. There’s just something about seeing these magnificent bison roaming the pasture that never gets old! 🦬🌾

🐪 DID YOU KNOW? Choctafaula has been home to camels since 2010! 🐪

That’s right—16 years of camel love! ❤️ Today, we have OVER 10 camels, and our camel family just keeps growing! 🐪🐪🐪

Here are a few fun facts about our dromedary camels:

🌵 Dromedary camels have ONE hump — while their cousins, Bactrian camels, have two!

🏜️ They are built for the desert and can handle incredibly hot temperatures… like this Alabama heat!

💧 Despite the old myth, camels don’t store water in their humps! Their humps store fat, which their bodies can use for energy.

👀 Camels have three eyelids to help protect their eyes from blowing sand! Notice their beautiful eyelashes!!
