We received a call from a customer a few weeks ago after a contractor who was refreshing the exterior of what was once windows came across a bee hive three stories high. After an assessment of the hive, we determined that they moved into the void where the window once was. We were able to locate the hive from the inside wall using thermal imaging. Bees radiate a large amount of heat that makes them stand out when using this technique. Knowing their exact location allows us to cut a hole in the wall that is just larger than the hive itself which minimizes damage to the wall making it an easier fix. After all the bees and comb were removed, we sealed the entrance to the void to prevent future hives from moving in.
