Nothing like the first day of Spring sitting in the historic Sherwood Diner looking from center field into Polar Park one week before the WooSox opening day. Was here for a podcast on Radio Worcester with our good friends at Central Massachusetts.

What a great tradition. Always great to share the sweet awesomeness of Nature with our neighbors.

Our Story

When good friends and family get together Pure BS is sure to flow. Bruce Hopper, his wife Maria, and their Saplings Lauren, Brennan and Nathaniel share a love of nature, adventure, hearty laughs and a cold one (as in a late winter/early spring night). Spend a few minutes drilling down with this crew and there is no denying they are all experts in Pure BS.

Pure BS started simply in 2007, tapping maple trees in the backyard and boiling sap in the Hopper kitchen. Then one fine March, Bruce and his good friend Sully got too tapped in their zeal for syrup on top of a Boy Scout troop sized stack of pancakes. With steam arising things got a little sticky and, well, let’s just say a stove might have gotten ruined. Finding they could no longer stand the heat, the Bucket Brigade put a lid on it and built a cool sugar shack in the backyard in 2013. Banished to the wooden shed, Pure BS then really flowed. The sweet activity tapped curious neighbors’ sappy side and, after some Pure BS, they offered their own maples.

You won’t mistake the Pure BS Maple Shack for a traditional maple farm. Instead, it captures the sweetness of Auburn, a welcoming old New England village. The business grew beyond its humble backyard roots to a quaint New England neighborhood venture that has now branched out to include a maple sugarbush on 11 acres in Western Massachusetts. The Hopper family now works collaboratively with several multi-generational farm families, collectively gathering over 200 years of maple sugaring, to continue to bring A Sincere Sweetness to your discerning palate.
