I've been quiet lately,the heat is oppressive, I've had multiple minor procedures on my head that have made farm work impossible and this week I got up to all but one of my flock being missing. Gone overnight 29 chickens. I've decided not to ftee range anymore and will be shoring up my coop before ordering more eggs from Red Rose Farms

Once my irises finish blooming, my instinct is always to get busy — tidy everything up, feed them, split the crowded clumps, make it all look neat for next year. Then I learned that half the things I wanted to do were the very things setting my plants back. There are a few quick jobs that genuinely help after the flowers fade — but it's the jobs you should leave well alone right now that surprised me most. One of them feels so much like "good gardening" that almost everyone does it without thinking. The full do-and-don't list is waiting just below.

4 new babies,still 2 eggs in the incubator. After this round we are stopping for a while.
