Stoops Farm

Stoops Farm Stoops Farm is a family-owned business on an Indiana Century Farm in Auburn, IN. Stoops Farm has gone back to our roots! Interested in beef for your freezer?

Back in the 1980’s, we had a little strawberry patch that soon grew into a big strawberry patch. For about a decade, we were the place to go in June for strawberries. We were a local supplier before anyone even thought about where their food came from. After a few years break from the strawberry business, we started back up again. Now our strawberry patches are bigger than ever and we’ve added som

e asparagus and fresh cut flowers. We raise a few steers every year. Reservations for fall beef need to be made in the summer, so please let us know if you’re interested! We are located just south of Auburn at 5113 CR 31.

A Little Good News / Bad News Update from Stoops Farm 🌸

We'll start with the hard part: this year, we won't have strawberries available. Between a smaller patch, a tough winter, and a cold, wet spring, our plants just didn't get the love from the weather they needed to thrive. We'll miss providing you the best berries around!! If strawberries are on your summer list, we hope you'll find a great local farm to visit this season.

Now, the part we've been bursting to share — our flower field is absolutely STUNNING. 🌻🌺🌼 They are growing like they have somewhere to be! Bouquet season kicks off in mid-June, and we cannot wait. This year we've added some gorgeous new varieties that we think you're going to fall in love with, right alongside the beloved favorites you keep coming back for.

You can find Stoops Farm bouquets at the flower cart right here on the farm, and we'll also be bringing the blooms to the Auburn Farmers Market!

It's almost time! Just a reminder that the plants are in the shop (the white building closest to the house). It's still too cold for them outside.

Tomato Day is Saturday, May 2! We will be open at the farm from 10 am - 3 pm with tomato plants. With the cold day forecasted, the plants will be in the flower shop (the white building closest to the house).

These big healthy plants are $6/each or 6 plants for $30. While we do have a good variety, quantity is limited... because we filled the greenhouse with flowers!

Varieties available are:
Slicers:
Beefmaster, Better Boy, Celebrity, Whopper, Watermelon Beefsteak, and Beef Steak. Also Hot Streak and Harvest Moon (yellow and red striped)
Canning:
Roma, San Marzano,
Cherry:

What’s happening at Stoops Farm? Are there ghosts in the greenhouse??

No, we are just trying to keep our baby plants warm tonight! We will be covering plants at night and uncovering them in the morning for the next several days.

Anyone up for another Stoops Farm story?

This 1979 F350 flatbed has lived on the farm since 1999. One foggy Christmas season, Santa stopped by the farm. Santa had been invited to Auburn for the Christmas parade, and he needed a stage in front of the Frosty the Snowman display to stand on. A little elf must have told him about the truck’s striking good looks, because he asked us to bring the truck to town. So for many years, the truck has proudly made a trip to town to serve as a stage for Santa and master of ceremonies Mike Littlejohn.

When the truck isn’t making public appearances, it works on Stoops Farm, hauling loads and pulling trailers. One summer day in 2013, the Grinch had the absolute audacity to steal the truck right out of the farm driveway. The police were notified, and they began a search for the Grinch That Stole The Christmas Parade Stage. The DeKalb County Police all had a little extra in their Christmas stockings that year, because they found the truck and returned it to the farm.

The Grinch had painted part of the truck white to hide its identity… but had left the Stoops Farm license plate on. He also damaged the transmission (the Grinch can’t drive a stick) so John had to do some repairs. But, like all good Christmas stories, this one has a happy ending: when Christmas rolled around, the truck was back to its parking spot in front of the Frosty lights!
