Ah, the sweet sound of the cork popping…you instantly know something memorable has happened, is happening or is about to happen!
Every bottle (or cork), tells many stories. The journey it had on it’s way to us, and the story ensuing… the purpose, place, people, and time. We remember the cheers, the tears and the laughter. The Hoorah’s, the quiet or contemplative moments, the greetings and goodbyes.
The memories that flood back with a mere mention or sight, we all have our stories.
And because it’s in vogue to declare a national holiday for a plethora of events, it seems quite fitting there be a day to celebrate popping the cork. Turns out, there is!
‘Open That Bottle Night’, conceptualized by Wall Street Journal’s Wine Columnists John Brecher and Dorothy Gaiter, made its debut in 2000. Now celebrated on the last Saturday of February every year, Open That Bottle encourages us to pop a cork and proceed with sharing memories as well as creating new ones.
So, what are you waiting for? Get out that bottle, get your charcuterie game on, make a playlist, and invite that special someone(s). While you’re at it, take a photo and be sure to share with us! We’ll be doing the same.
Cheers!
