We've had a very busy spring so far! We got in the field in mid-March and got a lot of much needed work done. All the dry fertilizer and Anhydrous was completed before April 1st. We also have been keeping the bulldozer very busy with projects we haven't had time for the past few years. All the corn stalks going to beans this year have been sprayed with pre-emerg herbicides. We had taken on a very ambitious project of converting our 3 planters over to Precision Planting Hydraulic Downforce and Electric meters. On April 8th we planted our first field of corn. The weather wasn't great but we wanted to ensure the new planter updates worked correctly. We then waited for warmer temps and started planting again on Wednesday April 13th. In 4 days we planted 60% of our corn. Saturday marked the 1 year anniversary of Caleb's accident. It was a very tough day for all of us. At 7 pm we all shut down our tractors and had a moment of silence for Caleb's co-worker Kurt Sulzman who passed on that terrible day. We also said a prayer to support Caleb on his continued road to recovery! We all took a breather on Sunday and helped Grandma Marj celebrate her 90th birthday. At 90 she still lives on the farm and keeps an eye on everything that's going on! Yesterday we got a much needed 1/2" of rain. Hopefully planting resumes late in the week and we can finish the corn and get a few beans in by the end of the weekend! I'll try and post more often so the posts don't get this long! Hope everyone has a safe planting season!

Currently at Chambers Farms we are updating our 3 planters with Delta Force Hydraulic down force and Vdrive meters. This new system will make our 3-5 year old planters perform better than a brand new one. We've found ourselves removing many quality used parts which we will no longer use. Such as Hydraulic VRD motors, Precision Planting Esets, John Deere down force air bags with compressors, sensors, and tanks, Row Command clutches with Pro shaft cables and gear boxes. We are selling all these parts at very reasonable prices. If you either want to update your older planter with any of this technology or simply purchase a few spare parts before the busy season give us a call or stop by the shop and rummage through what's left!
