Four A's Farm.

Four A's Farm. Our daughters show in their 4-Group, so we decided to start raising our own animals and we now have several.

Our newest gain here at Four A’s farm is Brownie. As you can see, Ava loves him already.

I have not posted in a while. We have been very busy, but doing ok. We spent Thursday looking at a small tractor for us to have here on the farm. I asked my brother Roger to go with us to look at this tractor, we figured he would know more about it than we would. He checked it out and well the next day, they delivered it to us. Life should be a little easier having our own tractor with some tools attached. Then Saturday we spent the morning cleaning out stalls which we do weekly and ultrasounds on our adult Nannie’s. We checked 8 Nannie’s and all 8 are pregnant. We could see clearly that 2 of them are clearly carrying twins! More could be, depending upon how they are laying it’s easier to see 2 sacs. No matter what they have we will be here this winter to take care of them and help if needed. It’s always best if the nanny can deliver solely on their own with no difficulty. Busy busy busy, I have always said there is always something to do around here. Just like any farm, we are not alone. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I am in search of a miniature donkey, anyone know where I might be able to get one? I missed a stock sale Saturday that had a couple for sale.

Just came in from making sure everyone had clean fresh water. Looking around, September will have to be dedicated to painting. Board fence that has already dried out must be painted so September is a good month to get it done. There is ALWAYS something to do on the farm. A big thank you to Ashley’s dad Earl Travis for coming out every day these past few days to help feed. All of the A’s went to the beach for a couple of days for a quick get a way. Now time to get to work once again.

This Saturday the 15th, I will be set up at Central Hampshire County Park in Augusta. They are having a farmers market, small animal swap, trade, sell along with baked goods and other items. I will be there with Homemade Cinnamon rolls and Dinner Rolls, some cookies and who knows what else I will decide to bake and take. I will also have an X Large dog crate and an auger, we bought from Tractor Supply last year. We have used it to put our fences up. We are finished with all fencing on the property and no longer need it. It sells for 409.00 new, I will have it on special this weekend for 250.00. The dog crate is heavy duty and it will be 25.00. My baked goods are prices separately. I hope some of you can come out and make your rounds around the park and make sure to stop in to see us. Hope to see you there.

Something new in our new field for the goats to play with. Anthony and Keagan built them a teeter totter. Well, here’s the thing the vet told us. The Grandchildren like it as well as the goats do!

Our fence is done!!! Minus the painting of the fence once the boards are dried enough to paint. I think painting will be an early fall job. We plan on dividing this field so we can have a smaller lot for breeding purposes, and a home for Enoch and Benjamin when they are not working. David is king and already has his own lot and his own harem.

They are first cousins, Anna and Brooklyn Lockhart showed their goat at the Hampshire County Fair yesterday. Their goats were twins born here on the farm. Anna , this is her 7th year showing in 4-H and Brooklyn’s first year of showing. You are judged for your showmanship and then the goat is judged. Anna won Reserve Champion for her showmanship and Brooklyn for her division got 2nd place for her goat. They both did an amazing job and we are proud of both of them. They are already talking about showing again next year. We had just explained to them that we have goats in now being bred for next years fair babies. This year we had 2 girls showing, next year we will have 3 girls showing at the fair. We are so proud of both Anna and Brooklyn for a job well done.
