Sweet potato waffles. 2 eggs, half of a half pint jelly jar of canned sweet potato mush with sweet potato pie spices toned down, cup of flower, sweetener to taste (mine is brown sugar about quart cup) , half a cup of yogurt and a dash of oil (I used olive oil). Butter the mold iron very generously.

Pineapple ginger butter shrimp. Pineapple juice, i was going for maple syrup BUT had a brain fart and sorghum went in instead and it was lovely! Sadly I cheated and used tube ginger instead of grading my own, coconut aminos and a dash of home made vinegar I believe was fig vinegar *also could have been pear ...* it turned out absolutely lovely. I was going to add honey but it was already sweet enough. Shrimp had old bay, coriander and salt in butter. Served over rice.

We had homeschool co op class about Japan and made fish less sushi. Of course we had to have proper sushi for dinner. FarmHer declined fish after one bite (hers was cooked). Oldest asked for rice only. And middle LOVES sushi.

Late night shrimo taco dinner: butter cilantro garlic and bay seasoning sautéed shrimp. Rice vinegar and salt red cabbage. Red peppers. Cilantro sticky rice left over from our homeschool co op japan class. Spring greens mix.

Baby ate shrimp and rice. Middle kid ate two servings of rice. But the oldest decided to be a parry pooper and ordered I don't want this substitution of tater tots and sammich.

Baby shepherdess fed n cleaned the lamb while I made breakfast of champions. Left over cocktail shrimp grilled with old bay. Left over chicken nuggets (home raised and breaded and cooked by my mom for kids yet snobbed because two Gordon Ramseys didn't like the size of breadcrumbs. Eggs and soft crust sourdough from our friends at Wagon Barn.

This post happened yesterday. But so did a lot of things and I didn't get to write it up till now.
So I don't make lasagna often
I generally wait for my friend, Trina, to make entirelly too much and have her kids decline it. I finally got to it. I pulled out my cookie sheet and set it on the island. I pulled out my caserol dish and set it on the cookie sheet only to discover it wasn't all the way on the island when it tipped over, crashing to the floor, coming dangerously close to taking one of my cat's 9 lives and attracting a crew of spectators to the motherload of crystals on the floor, like it was some kind of Long John Silver's treasure bounty. I thought maybe it's my sign lasagna wasn't happening today. But the noodles been in my pantry for 6 months, menu on the fridge said lasagna and I don't know if my husband read it and mentally prepared for it and I had all ingredients. So, I called my neighbor to borrow her pyrax. My husband doesn't do tomatoes well (he likes them but his stomach doesn't) so my lasagna is heavy on sources other than red. I did use half a pint of sloppy Joe's sauce that has maple sugar baked tomaters, the rest was carrot, winter squash, and finally smorgasbord of veggies I didn't mark pured. I think it was celery and green beans and something else green lol with a block of cream cheese, a pint of quality creammy ricotta and a very healthy toping of frozen mozzarella from the depth of my chest freezer. The meat was browned first with Sazon packet, garlic powder, half a pint of mushrooms and a pint of frozen Vidalia onions diced and also forgotten in my freezer. When it wasn't spicy enough I threw in some Dan-O'S Chipotle. Then I contemplated added smoked banana peppers but I couldn't remember how spicy they were so I called it complete.
Husband was running longer than expected sooooo it got a tid bit of a Cajun tan hiding in the oven from our cats. Boys pretended to love it and asked for a hot dog or a sammich. Baby girl ate a healthy serving, then asked for more as it's her new favorite word and promptly painted it on my antique French made table from Germany lol. Cats and Teddy who doesn't have to lift her head to get to the table cleaned it up before I finished scrubbing the kid.

Life on the farm 2026... we got through crystal rain. We got through southern snow apocalyps. We started lambing season with a special needs blind ewe lamb (passed after 5 days of trying). Then we got a ewe with no milk dropping a lovely hungry girl and a senior ewe Felicity going down. At first we treated for ketosis but shortly after we got her blood sugar leveled out it became apparent she had pinched nerve in the rear that was no longer serving her well. Just as we got through one bottle baby, who was able to go back to the barn with her mom (delayed milk production resolved with continues milking and nursing attempts and postpartum care). This morning I didn't have anyone to give a bottle too. I have discovered last bag of colostrum and asked our farm supply store to order more knowing Felicity's lamb if born viable will need to be bottle raised to give her chance to heal and get better.
This morning I fed indoor crew before heading to the barn since i didnt have a lamb there to feed, got Felicity's meds. And set down for a coffee. I don't get coffee till everyone else been served. I can't explain the urge but I left my coffee and went to the barn. 100 yards away I already saw it - Felicity stretched her neck in a labour way. I ran. She had the lamb's head out but was too tired to do the rest. I have done it before. Baby was presenting well. I just needed to work with her body. When she gave me tiny contraction I got him out of her safely. Yes, the horn nubs on his head told me he was 1st ram of 7 born lambs this year. I knew when Felicity lambs I will have to raise her lamb and let her recover and retire her. I got him and laid next to her head. She said hi but was too tired to care much. Some good byes are hard for ewes and some seem to be OK. When Joy didn't have milk and I took the lamb inside for a bit she was definitely not ok. When Mission had her disabled lamb I brought her to the house for 3 whole days as she stood over her and supervised my every attention to her lamb. I moved Felicity to a dry clean spot (i am getting too old to lift them on my own... my back is still not recovered from having to load our LGD inti my SUV to go to the vet last thursday) and gave her meds and old arse feed to regain energy. Got my 5 year old barn troll to towel off the baby. And had my coffee cold while defrosting colostrum. The baby is 7 # super strong ramblamb who stood up within 5 minutes of his delivery even with all the attention on his mom. He took 5 Oz bottle like he was a seasoned week old lamb and downed that 5oz and asked for more. Then the attention from the house crew started. Fennec the mcnab collie cleaned him. Cat named Duck went crazy all over him. Baby shepherdess, at just a year old, said baa-baa wawa more. We understood her. It's her first 3 word combination. Wawa is water but we got it. She is a pro at bottling her toys and now this is her lamb #3 already!
Our life is messy. Yeap there are piles of laundry waiting to be folded and we have to clean off our art project off a table to have breakfast. We apparently have breakfast while breastfeeding human baby and giving sheep a bottle lol I trip over cats and dogs cooking dinner and hollar to return my favorite spatula someone borrowed to make mud pies outside. I threaten Chickens to get off my porch or I will invite them to dinner. I pull hay out of my hair even on the day I haven't touched hay! I often question if I am doing right by my kids when we can't vacation... I often question if I am doing right when I have fresh food but can't afford to buy chips or take them to McD ... I don't know what the answer is but it's 2pm and I finally had my breakfast thanks to my mom while she fed kids lunch.

Boys and I made up skeleton of a weekly menu by calling days like taco Tuesday and pizza Friday etc.... somehow 3 weeks in a row we end up with pirogi like food on Tuesday so I am positive we should change our naming of the days lol today we had a cross over pizza rolls with cheese pirogi and stuffing that adults like but kids don't on the outside. Everyone was happy. Baked cheese pirogi slightly olive oiled. Then dressed with garden herbs, mushrooms, Vidalia onions and a ground moo seasoned with Mexican style flare.
