THIS is the salad people keep talking about.

Around here, it goes by a few different names:
“The Poppyseed Salad.”
“Meka’s Salad.”
Or simply… “The Salad.”

There’s a story behind everything we serve at LBS Catering Co., and for me, it starts with my dad.

Growing up in Georgia, twice a year meant one thing: “the five families BBQ.” My dad and four of his closest friends would come together to cook a whole hog the old-school way, low and slow on a cinder block pit. The smoke would roll through the Georgia pines while the wives filled the tables with homemade sides and desserts.

What started as five families didn’t stay that way for long.

Year after year, it grew. More friends, more family, more stories being told. At its peak, we had over 200 people gathered together, laughing, eating, and enjoying life the way it’s meant to be: surrounded by good food and even better company.

As a kid, I was right there in the middle of it. Watching. Listening. Learning. Not just about BBQ, but about people, tradition, and what it means to bring folks together.

Everything I know about Georgia BBQ, I learned from my dad and those men standing around that pit.

Those days, smoke in the air, stories all around, and the simple joy of being together, helped shape who I am today.

And that’s exactly what we carry into every dish we serve at LBS Catering Co.

It’s more than food.
It’s history.
It’s tradition.
It’s family.
