I don’t brag on Beth too often, but this sow is absolutely wonderful! Beth has produced the most outstanding piglets born on our farm. She is the second largest female we have (Polka being the largest), and has a wonderful personality. We are thrilled to have this gorgeous Wilson’s Gina in our herd and can’t wait to see what her babies look like in October 💗

Sometimes our best-laid plans don’t work out quite the way we hoped!

Matilda Jane was bred in May, and I was VERY excited for her to have a September litter. Unfortunately, I noticed she had come back into heat, which meant she didn’t settle like I expected. I moved her back in with a boar this past week, and she was bred again.

That’s farming and livestock for you! Sometimes animals don’t settle the first time they’re bred, and that’s just part of raising livestock—knowing when an animal has cycled and remembering to check for heat. There’s a lot of constant monitoring, taking pictures for documentation, and writing notes to keep up with it all!

I’m crossing everything that Matilda settles this time, and hopefully we’ll have a sweet December litter to look forward to!

Honestly, I personally love mild winter farrowings—no flies, cooler weather, and the babies seem to creep train so much easier!

✨ It’s time to introduce our newest addition! ✨

Meet Pistol Annie! Her call name seems to fit her personality to a T, but I also wanted her name to give a little nod to her incredible heritage.

Her sire is Wild Bill, and her dam is Daisy if You Do. Wild Bill comes from one of my all-time favorite KuneKune pairings, Scotch and Judy, while Daisy comes from an incredible breeder whose genetics I have been itching to have in our herd for quite some time.

A huge thank you to Donna, who has been simply wonderful and an absolute dream to work with throughout this entire process. I’m so glad I finally got to meet her in person today!

It’s weaning time for this group of babies, they will start leaving for their new farms in less than a week and I will sincerely miss them! This litter has done really well in the heat with zero sickness and that’s something we like to see. There will be a new face around here next Saturday and I can’t wait to introduce her to you all! 🩷
