Robert & Gail Wert (R&R Farms) have quarters, halves and whole beef available. They are charging $2.20 per pound hanging weight on the rail plus the processing cost!
Processing is approximately $0.70 per pound for the basic cuts on whole or half and approximately $0.75 per pound for split half. Basic cuts would include steaks, roast, ground beef and they are cut and packaged based on the way you want.
Take home weight is 50 to 54 percent of hanging weight depending on how it is cut. The processing fee will change if you have patties, stew meat, cube steaks or smoked meat.
Hanging weight is approximately 800 to 950 pounds (and you take home 50 to 54 percent of that if you order the whole beef).
Based on an 800-pound hanging weight the pricing would be:
Whole Beef: 800 @ $2.20 = $1,760 to farmer.
800 @ $0.70 = $560 to Meat Block
Approximate take home weight: 400 to 432 pounds
Half Beef: 400 @ $2.20 = $880 to farmer
400 @ $0.70 = $280 to Meat Block
Approximate take home weight: 200 to 216 pounds
Quarter Beef: 200 @ $2.20 = $440 to farmer
200 @ $0.75 = $150 to Meat Block
Approximate take home weight: 100 to 108 pounds
