Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Colorado’s Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (House Bill 21 -1162) restricts the use of disposable bags:
- Most stores will collect a 10-cent fee on single-use plastic and paper bags, with plastic bags phased out by June 1, 2024.
- This fee will NOT apply to customers who provide proof of participation in a federal or state food assistance program.
- The carryout bag fee will NOT apply to materials used in the packaging of pharmaceutical drugs, medical devices or dietary supplements.
Avoid the fee by bringing your own reusable bags. For more information, visit AuroraGov.org/BagFee.
