Elvis here is my husband's favorite rooster, but we are no longer keeping Ayam Ketawa (the Laughing Chicken). Which means a lucky someone gets to have a giggle every time he sings "Jailhouse Rock." Just don't tell him he sounds more like Woody Woodpecker than Elvis 😁

I just love young pullet's eggs. It is like their little b***y printers need the ink heads cleaned!

As they start to lay, the eggs are 1/3 the size as their body starts to gear up to be full time layers, and the colors will be a bit inconsistent. All egg colors will be at their most vibrant in spring and lighten or have less bloom toward the fall as the hens slow down production. But there is always something special about the first eggs the hen will ever lay.

We have an incubator full of Sebastopol eggs that will be hatching all season starting soon. Straight run goslings that can be white or Grey Saddleback. Our birds come from the Rountree and Crump exhibition lines.

We are super excited to have picked up our first flock of juvenile Midget White turkeys. As a breed that is listed as Critical by the Livestock Conservancy, they are soooo hard to find, and many have been outcrossed. We were very fortunate in finding a breeder with foundation stock. Thank you Mike from the ChickInn Ranch. We look forward to having them at the homestead.
