You probably won’t see these two on most Asian restaurant menus in Austin.
And that’s exactly why we made them this week’s special.
This week at Mom’s, we have
Tempura shrimp with bean sprouts and salad (ပုဇွန်ခွက်ကြော်သုပ်) and
Mont let saung (မုန့်လက်ဆောင်း).
Tempura shrimp with bean sprouts and salad (ပုဇွန်ခွက်ကြော်သုပ်) starts with crispy shrimp fritters, then we toss everything together Burmese salad style. It’s crunchy, savory, tangy, and honestly the kind of thing you keep going back for another bite of.
And after that, Mont let saung (မုန့်လက်ဆောင်း).
Cold, sweet, refreshing, and so good after something crispy and savory, especially with this Austin heat.
These are the kinds of foods that remind us of home.
Mom still makes them here the same way she would back in Myanmar.
So if you’ve been curious about Burmese food, this might be a good weekend to come try something you probably haven’t had before.
Both are only here as this week’s special, so come get them while we have them.
Available this Saturday, August 29 & Sunday, August 30 only.
Come try them while we have them.
