For this third summer recipe, we’re offering a twist on a traditional grandma’s grog : a homemade syrup with lemon and ginger, a sprig of thyme for freshness, some flat Bonneval water for smoothness, and for the sweet-toothed, add a touch of honey for sweetness. ꧁╭⊱GINGER RUM & THYME⊱╮꧂
1) Ingredients (for 4 glasses) :
▪️ 500 ml of water
▪️ 100 g of cane sugar
▪️ 3 lemons
▪️ Fresh ginger
▪️ Fresh thyme sprigs
▪️ ½ liter of chilled Bonneval flat mineral water
▪️ 12 cl of quality rum
▪️ Ice cubes
▪️ Fresh thyme
▪️ Optional: 1 tablespoon of honey
2) Preparation
In a saucepan, bring the water, cane sugar, juice from 2 lemons, ginger, and thyme to a boil. Then, remove from heat, let it cool, and steep for about an hour.
Strain the syrup through a fine sieve. Slice the remaining lemon into rounds. Pour 1/3 of the syrup into a pitcher, add half of the lemon slices, and top it off with the mineral water.
Fill 4 glasses with ice cubes and add the remaining lemon slices. Pour the thyme lemonade into the glasses and add 2-3 cl of rum per glass. Garnish with fresh thyme sprigs.
