At Flying C Wagyu, these green pastures didn’t happen overnight.
After years of drought across Texas, one good rain doesn’t magically restore a ranch. The effects stay with the soil long after the tanks fill back up. Dry ground loses structure. Native grasses struggle. Water runs off instead of soaking in. Every season becomes a test of stewardship.
Over the past several years, we made a commitment to rebuilding from the ground up — focusing on soil health, aeration, water retention, w**d control, and eliminating bare ground wherever possible. The goal wasn’t just greener grass after a rainstorm. It was creating resilient pasture capable of holding moisture, supporting healthy forage, and sustaining healthy cattle through the hard years too.
Today’s conditions are encouraging, and we’re proud of how these cattle look, but ranching is always a long game. Every healthy pasture is really the result of years of work most people never see.
Grateful for the rain. Even more grateful for the land, the cattle, and the opportunity to keep improving both every season.
