One of the incredible things to me as his mom is how much Chef Guy used to be such a picky eater!!! Getting him to try ANYTHING new was a real battle.
So I learned it was really about him feeling in control AND taking ownership for wanting to put something nutritious into his body. That's when we started playing with our food at home! And, while I never did anything as fancy as these cute little concotions, I realized that because Chef Guy was still a kid afterall, the best way to win him over was to get him playing with food!
As a sushi lover myself, I had an aha moment...I think the Japanese have figured out a great way to make healthy food really enticing to kids! They use color, design, imagination in their dishes and make food look just so CUTE sometimes! I suspect this is one of the reasons Chef Guy, to his dad's and my great surprise, fell head over heels in love with Japan, Japanese design and tastes like simple egg sushi or Tamago (third picture) from such an early age...
We'll be featuring some of his favorite Japanese cooking tools here from time to time, as a result, as well. After all, one of the big reasons for The Fantastic Kitchen's existence is to help Chef Guy earn his pocket money to get to Japan in 2020...long term goal but in the meanwhile, we're excited to play with you and our food right here! Enjoy 🍱🥑🍎🍉🍲😜
