I had the honor of preparing traditional Czech and Slovak desserts for the Preciosa Gala hosted by the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

It was a beautiful evening celebrating our rich cultural heritage, and I’m proud to have been part of it—bringing authentic flavors and traditions to the table. 🍰

✨ One Big Week in Cedar Rapids ✨

With deep gratitude and humility, I would like to thank you for the opportunity for Pavlova Catering & Bakery to be part of the prestigious Preciosa Gala and the entire inspiring week at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library.

It was a true honor for me to contribute and be part of a celebration of Czech and Slovak culture in such a remarkable setting.

My sincere thanks go to Director Cecilia Rokusek for her vision, energy, and long-standing support of our traditions. Special thanks also to Sharon Schweitzer and her initiative Access to Culture.

I truly appreciate the support of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington, D.C. and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, D.C., the distinguished ambassadors, and the entire museum team for their professionalism, dedication, and warm welcome.

During this week, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new people who came to celebrate—people who always bring a piece of home across the ocean. 💙

I’m also excited to share that my cookbook, Pavlova Czech Cookbook, is now available for purchase at the museum store—bringing a taste of Czech tradition into your homes.

When Leonardo DiCaprio walked into Pavlova Catering & Bakery, we thought he was scouting for a new movie role… but nope — he was on a mission to master the art of homemade cream rolls! 😄

Apparently surviving Titanic, fighting off a bear, and conquering Wall Street wasn’t enough… Czech cream rolls? Now that’s a real challenge.

So Chef Lenka Pavlova took him under her wing — a little flour, a lot of laughter, and quite a few attempts (okay… more than a few 😅).

The result? Leo left not only with a brand-new skill, but also with a takeaway box. Because Oscars are great… but cream rolls from Pavlova Catering & Bakery? That’s a whole different level! 🥐✨
