Meet Karen:
Menu and event planning is something I've always loved to do. As a teenager still living with my parents, I would make up imaginary functions, then plot out every last detail of the menu, from the shopping to the buffet table arrangement and decor, and every step and consideration in between. Once out on my own, I entertained often and also catered functions for others, from small casual dinner parties to more formal events, both in the U.S. and in France. And though the course of my professional and personal life has led me to pursue other interests as well, I have never lost my passion for menu planning, cooking, and entertaining. "Let me entertain you!"
Meet Jonathan:
Having spent his childhood summers in France with his father's side of the family, many of whom are culinary professionals, as well as having lived with me the rest of the year, my son Jonathan grew up surrounded by passion for good food and has inherited the same. Following in his father's footsteps, Jonathan attended the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, obtaining a diploma in Pastry Arts. His most recent professional endeavor has been as head baker for Randall's here in Austin, TX. Together, we are the minds and hands that conceive of and create our beautiful and delicious menu items. However, "It takes a village..." as they say. And so, without further ado, please let me introduce the "villagers"...
Meet Jack:
Jack is my loving and patient husband and our #1 taste tester. His contagious optimism, as well as his constant moral support and encouragement, stands behind all that I do. He's also the force that keeps all things annoying and overwhelming to me going, such as our web site development and maintenance, along with a multitude of other necessary behind-the-scenes activities too numerous to count, much less mention. Meet Christophe:
My son Christophe keeps me thinking and on my toes, forever questioning the wording of promotional materials and the like. As a graphic arts student, he has also contributed to the look and feel of those same materials, and is the brainchild behind the "Cake Pops by Karen" logo. It's "all hands on deck" sometimes to get big orders out the door, and Christophe is always there to help in any way needed to "get 'er done." Meet Charles:
Charles (Jonathan's son) is my 3-year-old grandson and our #1 fan. He LOVES our cake pops, and is forever praising their beauty and taste. Charles also serves as my photo assistant, advising on such matters as angle, props, and background. Charles is the "special sauce," if you will--- that special blend of sugar and spice and everything nice. He is our reminder that life, and especially childhood, is a wonderful, precious gift to be appreciated, enjoyed, and cherished. Charles is our rock--- the anchor that keeps us grounded and real and thankful.
