Beans, beans, they’re good for your heart. The more you eat, the more you… well, you know the rest. 🫘

Fiber might not be the most exciting thing to talk about, but the foods that contain it certainly can be. Beans are one of our favorites: naturally rich in fiber and plant-based protein, incredibly versatile, and an easy way to add something nourishing (and delicious) to your plate.

They’ve also been getting some well-deserved attention thanks to the Dense Bean Salad. Coined by recipe creator , the idea is simple: beans tossed with plenty of vegetables, herbs, and a flavorful dressing for a hearty salad that only gets better as it sits.

To inspire a little more bean-eating, we’re giving away a Steve Sando and the Rancho Gordo staff Heirloom Bean Variety Pack to one lucky winner! 🎉

Rancho Gordo is known for sourcing and growing heirloom beans with exceptional flavor, texture, and history behind them. Founder Steve Sando started selling heirloom beans at farmers markets, and today Rancho Gordo works with small farms in the U.S. and Mexico to help preserve unique varieties that might otherwise disappear.

Rich and full-bodied, Rancho Gordo’s Christmas Lima Beans are an unusual take on the classic lima, with a distinctive velvety, chestnut-like texture. They become creamy with continued cooking and hold their own alongside bold flavors, making them especially good in soups, salads, casseroles, curries, or dishes with mushrooms and cheese.

Even Rancho Gordo calls these a favorite for converting people who think they don’t like lima beans.

Rich, creamy, and mild, Rancho Gordo’s Yellow Eye Beans cook up soft and smooth with a distinctive russet potato-like texture. Their mild flavor makes them incredibly versatile, taking on the flavors of whatever they’re cooked with.

More behind the scenes from our visit to Keepers Harvest Bee Farm 🍯🐝

We got a closer look at what it really takes to produce raw, pure, unfiltered Texas honey, from the day-to-day life of a beekeeper to the care that goes into every jar.

Keepers Harvest was founded in response to a much bigger problem in the honey industry: much of the honey consumed in the U.S. is imported, and adulteration has made it harder to know exactly what you’re buying.

At Keepers Harvest, the process is refreshingly simple. Their honey goes from the hive through a 600-micron strainer and into the jar. The strainer removes larger bits of wax and debris while still allowing naturally occurring pollen to pass through, one of the reasons many people seek out local raw honey during allergy season.

No excessive heating. No added syrups. Just raw, unfiltered Texas honey, made by people who care deeply about their bees and the integrity of every jar 🫶

Nothing says summer in Texas quite like peach season. 🍑

Our juicy yellow peaches come from Fredericksburg Peach Company, a family-owned business that’s been connecting Texans with local produce since 1984. Today, they work with 30 growers across the state to bring the best of the season to our tables.

Grill them, toss them into a summer salad, bake them into a galette, or enjoy one perfectly ripe over the sink. Peach season doesn’t last forever, so enjoy it while it’s here. 💛

Every peach starts with the same care from Fredericksburg Peach Co.. But during peak season, some ripen a little faster or pick up a few bumps and bruises along the way.

They’re still incredibly sweet, juicy, and full of flavor, just not always the right fit for our boxes.

So instead of letting those peaches go to waste, our Farmhouse Kitchen chefs transform them into our small-batch Texas Peach Jam. It’s one more way we make the most of a great harvest while preserving the taste of Texas peach season.

Available for a limited time while peaches are in season. Grab a jar before they’re gone! 🍑🫶

Recent headlines about the Cyclospora outbreak have prompted thoughtful questions from our community about food sourcing, and we’re grateful you’re asking them.

While health officials continue investigating the source of the outbreak, moments like these remind us why transparency matters. At Farmhouse, we believe knowing where your food comes from shouldn’t only matter when there’s a headline. It should matter every day.

That’s why we work directly with local farmers and food producers we know personally. Those relationships help us understand how our food is grown, stay connected with the people who produce it, and provide our customers with the transparency they deserve.

No food system is completely risk-free, but we believe knowing the people behind your food is an important part of building a more connected, accountable, and transparent food system.

As always, we encourage everyone to follow standard food safety practices, including thoroughly washing fresh produce and following guidance from public health officials as new information becomes available.

Thank you for supporting local agriculture and for trusting us to bring thoughtfully sourced food to your table. 💚

We’re honored to be featured in the July issue of Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine.🌿

Written by our founder, Stephanie Scherzer, the story explores how eating with the seasons connects us more closely to the land, the people who grow our food, and the natural rhythms that shape what’s available throughout the year.

Our Farmhouse Kitchen Head Chef, Carlos Guerra, also created the featured recipe using local, peak-season ingredients.
