Apologies for not being at the market this past weekend. Due to the multi-day heat wave we've been experiencing, we decided it was in our animals' best interest that we didn't cart them to and from the location. Less stress on them = happier and healthier livestock! As far as this Saturday is concerned, with the current outlook on weather, we'll play it by ear until closer to time.

It has also come to our attention that the email attached to this page was out of date! So sorry! It's updated now, so if you sent anything recently and didn't hear back from us, please feel free to try once more. I promise it'll get to us this time lol!

Sorry for any inconvenience and we hope to interact with you soon!

Many apologies for the extended absence folks! We had a multitude of projects in the works, multiple bouts of bad weather, complete lack of internet access, a pandemic, and several surprizes along the way!

We had to make some big changes and tough decisions over the last few months: in shorts, the piggies, as much as I love them, aren't going to be offered for sale anymore, but table-ready rabbits are! *Note, these are offered for harvesting purposes...we're currently not going the pet/breeding route (but that may change in the future!)

Soon, I'll post pictures of some of the new additions as well as some of the latest projects we've been undertaking.

Hope everyone is staying safe, distanced and dry during these uncertain times! Rest assured that we are still here, working hard to provide clean, nutritious foods for the community! πŸ’ͺ

This is the importance of knowing where your food comes from! Either go direct through a farmer and skip the middle man, barter or do what you can to grow it yourself!

For every dollar you spend on your Thanksgiving dinner, the farmers and ranchers who grew the ingredients will receive only 12 cents.

Most startlingly, turkey growers will earn just $0.66 for an 11 lb turkey retailing at $16.39.

I wanted to apologize for us going dark for the past 2 weeks. We had to brace ourselves for a series of nasty thunderstorms that slammed into our area. We had no communication other than the radio when it hit and storm cells were forming all around us, causing back to back to back (etc.) warnings of tornadoes, flooding and severe thunderstorms with destructive winds and large hail. Early afternoon until the next morning we dealt with whipping winds, multiple power outages and torrents of rain. Later on we found out that 3 tornadoes narrowly missed our house...all within 2 miles. We were quite lucky, but unfortunately others just south of us were not. I'm not even exactly sure just how many tornadoes funneled through SW MO during that time, but the damage in areas we traveled through afterwards is pretty extensive and it's going to take awhile to get everything fixed. While I am fortunate to have not had to experience a tornado head on (only close calls as of now), it certainly is a wake up call to make sure one is fully prepared in the event of an emergency or natural disaster. Looks like there is more work to be done! πŸ’ͺ

Bernie Sanders in Iowa talked about family farms, Monsanto and big meat companies.
