We’re in a pollen/nectar dearth for honey bees this time of year meaning there’s very little food resources available. When a plant blooms and is a food source the bees find it quickly and swarm to it.

Today on our nature hike we could hear the bees swarming around in the air before we could see what they were up to. This native ironweed was absolutely covered with bees. If you look close in the second picture you can see the bees back leg has its pollen sack loaded with orange pollen to take back to the hive.
