Weatherbury Farm

Weatherbury Farm Weatherbury Farm grows certified organic grains & mills them into flour. Grass Fed & Finished Beef is also raised for sale directly to consumers.

Weatherbury Farm is a sustainable family farm located in the rolling hills of southwestern Pennsylvania. Certified organic grains (soft & hard wheats, buckwheat, oats, open-pollinated corn, rye, spelt, emmer and einkorn) are grown on the farm. Since 2014 we have milled our grains into flour for sale directly to the consumer. From putting the seed into the soil to putting the flour into the bag, al

l of the operations of planting, harvesting, grain cleaning and milling happen on our farm. Dried beans are also grown; oats, spelt and einkorn are also available rolled. Grass fed (& finished) beef & lamb are also raised for sale directly to the consumer. Weatherbury Farm was one of two farms selected (from 500+ farms) for the 2012 Pennsylvania Certified Organic Sustainability Award. Farm stays were offered from May 1992 to August 2017 to educate about farming with an emphasis on organic. Folk music jams are also held.

Merry Christmas!

Sunday we visited Malcolm Parcell's Moon Lorn, where we met Father Christmas. It was great to see that this important part of Washington County's history has been preserved.

Organic triumphed once again at the 2025 Washington County Fair. Weatherbury’s Wapsie Valley Corn stalks placed 1st beating all the GMO corn in the county & repeating its victories of 2022, 2021, 2017 and 2016 .

Unlike conventional corn which is sprayed when it is planted, this year we returned to the field to rotary hoe the corn twice and cultivate it once to keep weeds down.

Now if the area deer don’t vote the corn best of the best as they did in 2024 and eat it to the ground, we will harvest the corn late this year and have cornmeal and polenta available in January 2026.

The internet is a wondrous place. A report on the Global High Protein Flour Market by market.us included Weatherbury Farm as a "Major Market Player." Saying (in part) " Smaller players like ....Weatherbury Farm are also emerging as competitive forces in regional markets, focusing on organic and locally sourced ingredients to cater to niche market."

We planted 10.907 acres of Glenn in 2021, 2022 and 2023 and 1.89 acres of Rouge de Bourdeaux in 2023 and harvested this year.

ADM mills 2.64 million pounds of flour/year or 1833 pounds/minute. Weatherbury (last on the alphabetical list) mills 31000 pounds of all types of flour/year. It takes ADM 17 minutes to mill what we mill in a year.

Nonetheless, we are thankful that they found us!
