Alps Mountain Farm

Alps Mountain Farm Alps Mountain Farm was born from a desire to trade concrete for connection — to create something lasting, rooted in nature and purpose.

From tech to timberline, we’re building a regenerative alpaca and forest farm in the hills of Averill Park, NY — carving out space to breathe, create, and build something lasting where nature, purpose, and community meet. Nestled in the forested hills of Averill Park, NY, we’re building a regenerative alpaca and forest farm that blends sustainable agriculture with creativity and community. From fi

ber to forest, every piece of this place tells a story about returning to what matters — care, craft, and connection to the land. 🌲🦙

We spent some time at Runway Farms Alpacas earlier this year, and it’s the kind of place that lingers. Quiet pastures, curious alpacas, a small shop full of fiber and care—and people who take the time to talk honestly about what they’re building.

They shared their journey with fiber, breeding, and farming in a way that felt generous and real. Along the way, they also connected us with The Shed Family & Farm, who built and delivered our run-in—one of those moments where a good conversation turns into something solid you can actually stand under.

If you’re anywhere near Westerlo, their farm shop is well worth the stop. We’re grateful for both of these farms and the way good work travels through good people.

These two sweet white girls just joined our furry family. Guess which one we’ve called Snowball! The other girl is Sierra.

Our first Christmas Eve here.

Snow settling where a pasture will someday be,
the driveway scraped clean—again—
salt crunching under boots in the dark.

No outside lights this year.
Just the house holding warm,
and an alpaca run-in shelter ready to be set after the thaw, empty for now, but waiting.

A barn learning our voices.
A land that doesn’t know us yet—
but is listening.

This season isn’t about polish or perfection.
It’s about arrival.
About choosing a place and letting it change you.
About tending something slowly,
with faith it will answer back.

We’re grateful—for the cold, the work,
the long dark evenings,
and for everyone who has followed this beginning with us.

From our hills to wherever you’re standing tonight:
May your fire hold.
May your table be full enough.
May what you’re building find its roots.

On this quiet ridge, where the pines keep their own counsel, we’re celebrating our first Thanksgiving as a young farm with old roots.

We’re grateful for the hands that help us tend this land, for the animals who teach us patience, and for the mountain itself—steady as an elder, generous as long daylight.

And we hold space, too, for the truth beneath the holiday’s shine. This season carries a harder history for Indigenous peoples, whose stewardship shaped these landscapes long before our fences or footpaths. Today we offer respect, not as ceremony, but as a daily practice: to listen, to learn, to care for the soil in a way that honors those who came before.

Thank you for walking with us in this first year. May your table be warm, your stories honest, and your heart wide open to the land that sustains us all.

In Trees We Trust,

~AMF

Big thanks to Mill Pond Alpacas, our incredible neighbors and mentors just down the road!
We spent the day learning from their team and seeing firsthand what a thoughtful, modern alpaca operation looks like. From herd health to fiber prep to farm flow, we came away with pages of notes — and even more excitement for what’s ahead at Alps Mountain Farm.

Every visit like this helps us build smarter and dream bigger.

Hi friends 👋

We’re Caryn and Will, and we’re building something special here in the hills of Rensselaer County, NY — Alps Mountain Farm.
What started as a dream to reconnect with the land has become a 100+ acre adventure in regenerative living, fiber farming, and modern homesteading.

Our vision is simple:
🌳 steward our forest
🦙 raise happy alpacas for sustainable fiber
🍁 grow and create things that feed both body and spirit

We both come from tech backgrounds, but our hearts are in the soil — and this farm is where those worlds meet. Over time, we’ll share the journey: the lessons, the experiments, the small wins, and the stories behind it all.

If you’re into slow growth, good work, and living closer to the land — we’d love for you to follow along.
Welcome to Alps Mountain Farm 💚
