🐐 🐐 🐐
🤔I left the house this morning with 4 goats and came back with 10 goats.
That’s called goat math, very closely related to chicken math. 🫣🤣🤣😁

Thank you Swartz Family Farm for letting us add this good looking group to our farm and to Bradley Copeland for enabling me 😁

🌞 Good Monday Morning!
It’s a beautiful start to a new week.
We are making some shifts in our goat herd which means I have a couple of 2026 MiniNubian doelings available that I originally planned on retaining.
If you want to add some color to your herd these girls will definitely do it!

Dam raised, sweet and friendly and reasonably priced. But I don’t mind keeping them and freshening them next year either 😅🤣

Maribel - silver doe, disbudded, blue eyes and wattles
DOB: 2.18.26, twin

Reba - tricolored, disbudded and brown eyed
DOB: 4.17.26, twin

They will have to be picked up here at the farm between DeKalb and Avery.

Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news buuttt….there will be no baked goods this weekend. The last two weeks have been quite hectic and this girl needs a break.
But promise I’ll make it up next week 😁.

If you need something this weekend though whether it be sweets or sandwich bread I know lots of other bakers in the area that can probably help you out though!

Pictured below is Mabel, perfectly exhibiting how I feel at the end of some days 😅.

🥛 A question I frequently get asked concerning raw milk is “How long does it stay good?” 🤔
My usual answer is at least two weeks.

The general belief is that fresh raw milk will not stay good as long as processed and pasteurized milk.

This jar pictured below was milked out on Sept 15. It got hidden behind more recent milk in the fridge until I found it this morning rotating jars.
And guess what 😱!?
At 21 days old it still taste fresh and creamy 😋. No off taste, no sourness.

Doe health and milk handling have a big influence on how long raw milk will stay good.
Issues such as high somatic count, mineral imbalances, not chilling milk quickly, dirty milk pails and jars, contamination and not keeping milk properly refrigerated will all affect the shelf life and taste.

🌞 Happy Monday Morning!
It’s definitely feeling like fall out today 🍂

Cleaned up the soap room a bit yesterday which means I have a few deals for you!
$10 soap grab bags, 3 available, first come

These have at least five full size bars. Most are unscented or if they had fragrance it is very faded.
Some of them are over a year old but fortunately soap is like fine w**e, it only gets better as it ages 😉
