Henderson Blueberry Farm

Henderson Blueberry Farm Henderson Blueberry Farm Henderson Blueberry Farm is a family owned business selling fresh picked and pick your own blueberries. Pick your own are $2.00/lb.

The farm was started by my dad, Bob Henderson, back in 1991 on land we bought near Avinger, Texas. We began selling berries commercially around 1995. Dad steadily built up the business by selling to friends and through word of mouth. He made many friends and good customers through his blueberries over the years. Dad passed away in December 2007 and care of the farm passed to me his oldest son. My

wife, Kim and I moved to the farm in March of 2020. I retired from my job as a Park Ranger at Lake O' the Pines in December 2021 after 34 years so now I'm able to devote more time to caring for the farm. I try to continue the tradition dad started by selling only the freshest berries at the peak of ripeness. I will not sell a berry I wouldn't eat! All our berries are picked, sorted, and packaged by hand. We don't use any herbicides, pesticides, or chemicals of any kind so the berries are good to eat right off the bush. We have three different varieties, Premier, Brightwell, and Tif blue. Each variety ripens at a different time so we can pick for approximately six weeks. Our blueberries are in season from early June to about mid July. Pre-picked are $4.00/pint container and $8.00/ quart bag. I also sell to a few local businesses who re-sell the berries in their stores. We are usually open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 am till 12:00 pm, but it's best to call us at 903-235-8061 or message to be sure since we're a small operation and life can get in the way at times.

I was waiting to post an update until I was sure. Unfortunately, the freeze we had back in March all but wiped out our crop for this year. As a result, we will not be opening this year for pick your own and won't have any pre-picked berries for sale. We are sorry for any inconvenience. We'll hope for more favorable weather conditions next year.

The farm is now closed for the season. We had hoped to stay open for another week or so, but the berries just ran out. We had a good season and I think we had more people picking their own berries than we've had in years. Thanks again to our pickers who worked so hard so we could supply our customers with fresh picked berries! Thanks also to our good customers who continue to support us every season! We plan on being open next year so come out and see us!

The farm is now closed for the season. The berries ran out earlier than we expected. Weather conditions just weren't the best this year. The berries ripened earlier than normal and we didn't have enough hot dry weather at the beginning of the season to make the berries sweet. The heavy rains knocked a lot of the ripe berries off the bush and the rain slowed up the ripening process of the rest of them. We had a decent season although our harvest was not quite what we had hoped. Thank you to our regular customers who continue to come out and support us! We also met some new customers and made some new friends as well. Finally, thank you to all our pickers who get up at the crack of dawn to come out and pick! We couldn't do it without y'all!

Another beautiful (but hot) day here at the farm. We've had a few folks come out today and they've done pretty well. The hot dry days we've had this week have made more berries ripen, so we have plenty of juicy, ripe berries to pick. Come on out and see us and bring the kids! It's a good idea to come early to avoid the heat!

Cloudy this morning at the farm, but no mention of rain. Looks like the rain is gonna leave us alone this week. Should help the berries come on and ripen.

Beautiful morning at the farm! The rain has finally moved on and our mud is starting to dry out!😁 The warmer temperatures that are forecast should have the berries ripening quickly! So come on out and see us and get you some of our sweet ripe berries! We're open today until noon and 7:00 till noon on Saturday.
