Jesus Christ what a #$@%ing journey.
From walking out of my last chef job, deciding to Uber and start a catering business out of my kitchen, selling pies from my pool, renting a kitchen space waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before I was financially prepared, and trying to be “just” a catering company with no money and no marketing — which is basically impossible — to finally deciding to open the sandwich shop.
(All my wife’s ideas by the way. If you didn’t know that already, just ask her.)
We had the sandwich shop open for maybe five months before I got diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. Had a lung removed. Went through chemo. Closed for 10 months. Didn’t pay rent. Shout out Geoff✊🏼.
While I was sick, my great uncle Carl (UC ✊🏼) — a man I had never even met — passed away and left me 30 grand or we probably would be homeless. I wasn’t even sure if I’d ever come back.
It’s honestly kind of hard to believe that we’ve now been back almost two years and somehow, after all of that, we’re still here. Not only still here, but actually starting to thrive(my Isabelle voice).
So I just wanted to hop on here and genuinely thank every single one of you that’s supported us, ordered food, shared posts, told your friends, checked in on us, or just kept showing up.
PS: I also wanna shout out Brandi who, if you’ve been in the shop, I’m assuming most of you have seen her or us arguing like brother and sister💀💀. She started at the very beginning, waited for me to not die, and then came back. ❤️
I wasn’t planning on being sentimental today. Just wanted to say thanks.
✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼🥪🥪🥪🥪🥪😭😭😭
