Today we split up the does and got the two bucks turned out with them. Will have early to mid January kids again. We're hoping for better weather for it than the last Jan. kidding season. 25° - 30° below zero is just a bit too extreme for new babies!

Back to frequent checks on the goats again. We have 5 of our yearling does and one second timer expected to start kidding anytime now. The cows are also due to start calving soon too. We're finally enjoying the lots and pastures now that they're mud free, and hoping they stay that way. Did some work today on some electric fences, and cleared some ground for more fence to expand some pasture. Looking forward to more babies bouncing around the pastures soon!!

04/12/2018

Finally some days of good weather to dry up some of the barnlots and pasture, so i'm going to spend the afternoon leveling out some ruts and tracks, hauling some manure, and working on some fences. Hoping the forecast for more wet weather this weekend is wrong, and the dry weather continues for a while. The livestock have had to deal with this mud too long.

Located in West Central Illinois. We still have several bucklings and doelings for sale! Bucklings will be wethered if desired. Sires and all but one dam are registered fullblood or 95% and above. Excellent structure, bone, and thickness in all of them! Current on vaccinations, and started on feed. Will be weaned and should be ready to go by the end of February. We have just a few more we couldn't get good pictures of. PM us for more info or to set up a time to come see them.

Busy day planned today. Morning chores, then put out a couple round bales of hay for the cows, go pick up another load of straw, and get some gates switched around to move some goats around. Planning to get some weaning done this weekend, and get feet trimmed on all the does and bucks. Need to get some more pics of the kids we have left to sell, and get them posted. They are growing fast and looking great. It's hard to get good pictures of them when they all want to climb all over me. Just me and the helper dog Lucy today, as Stacy has 16 hours at work today. We will miss her help today, and i know she would much rather be here with us.

Busy weekend. After chores yesterday morning, then heading to Galesburg to pick up feed and vet supplies and deciding on a spur of the moment trip to Kentucky to bring home a new doe, and driving all night there and back, today we found ourselves spending most of the day vaccinating all the goats and alpacas. Finally accomplished our original plan this evening of family meeting at our favorite restaurant for Stacy's birthday supper. Early to bed tonight so we can head back to our jobs tomorrow while wishing we were still home taking care of our livestock.

Worked on tagging and getting some pics of the kids today. We would have liked better pictures, but there wasn't a one of them that would stand still. We're pretty impressed this year with how they are looking, thick topped, big boned, and stout. Several of them are out of our newer fullblood buck who just turned 2 years old in January. Here are pics of almost all of them, and their sex listed with them. A few of the bucks we would like to see sell as bucks. Anything sold as wethers we will gladly wether them, but we don't do anything with horns. We will also be keeping a couple wethers and a doe or two for our daughter to show, but there are still plenty of good ones to pick from. This our first set of kids that i wouldn't hesitate to save any of for our own use! PM us to set up a time to come see them, we would love to show them to you!!

UPDATE. Number 42 buck, and number 43 doe are both SOLD.
Number 27 buck, number 30 buck, and number 46 doe are
pending

We are working on tagging and picture taking today! We should have individual pictures of all the kids posted by this evening!!
