Did you know? 🌾 Eastern North Carolina has been a cornerstone of American agriculture for centuries. From the earliest to***co farms to today’s diverse crops like sweet potatoes, peanuts, and soybeans, our region has always been a leader in feeding families and driving the economy.

In the 1700s, Eastern NC was known for its naval stores, producing tar, pitch, and turpentine from our longleaf pine forests. By the 1800s, cotton, and to***co became king, shaping the cultural and economic landscape we know today.

Farming remains the heart of Eastern North Carolina, with family farms like ours carrying on the proud traditions that make our region great.

What’s your favorite piece of Eastern NC history? Let’s celebrate our roots together! 🌱💚

🐖✨ A Southern New Year’s Day Feast ✨🍞

In the South, we kick off the New Year with a meal that’s not just delicious—it’s filled with tradition and good fortune! Here’s our favorite New Year’s Day meal recipe, featuring all the staples that make this holiday special:

🍴 The Menu:

Pork 🐖: A symbol of progress and prosperity. Slow-cooked or roasted, it’s always the star of the table!
Black-Eyed Peas: For luck and abundance in the year ahead. Cooked low and slow, seasoned with a little pork, of course!
Collard Greens 🥬: Representing wealth and money—because who doesn’t want more green in the new year?
Cornbread 🍞: Golden and comforting, this staple ties it all together with its rich, buttery flavor.
🌟 Quick Tips:

Add a ham hock or bacon to your peas and greens for extra flavor.
Bake your cornbread in a cast-iron skillet for that perfect crispy edge.
Serve everything family-style and enjoy the comfort of good food and great company.
From our farm to your table, we wish you a New Year filled with joy, blessings, and plenty of good eats!

🎄 Merry Christmas from Smith Family Farming! 🎄

Today, as we gather with loved ones, we celebrate the greatest gift of all—the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. 🌟 On this holy day, we are reminded of His love, grace, and the promise of hope and salvation.

"For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." – Isaiah 9:6

May your Christmas be filled with the light of His love and the joy of His presence. Thank you for letting us share in the blessings of this season with you! 💚
