Chilaquilicious
1123 E. Alosta Ave.
Azusa, Ca

I was in the mood for chilaquiles for breakfast & was looking to my surprise, this came up.

In case you don't know what these are. Chilaquiles are a traditional Mexican dish consisting of crispy tortilla pieces simmered in red or green salsa. Sometimes mixed with scrambled egg or the eggs on the side.

Recently it's been a "hit & miss" as some places don't put enough sauce, the chili sauce (red) is
too hot or the green sauce doesn't have enough flavor.

They have 3 dish ๐Ÿฝ options, I chose the #2 chilaquiles with potato & chorizo. My buddies chose the same, but with carne asada.

While they prepare the fire, they provide you with a bowl of frijoles (refried beans) & various sauces.
The sauces go from mild to Death (very hot) ๐Ÿ˜†

The portions aren't out of control, but enough get full & possibly take some home. Eggs are eggs. When ordering tge chilaquiles, they give you the option of red or green sauce or..... they can do a half & half. I figured the best way is to try both !

The chilaquiles aren't drowned in sauce nor is it missing huge areas of no sauce. It was a happy medium of soft & crunchy. The green sauce was packed with flavor. It went well with the eggs ๐Ÿฅš & potatoes ๐Ÿฅ”. The red sauce was kinda bland, but thats not their fault. I forgot that you can adjust the heat to your likeness.

The potato with chorizo was good. The cut size of the potatoes are decent size. The chorizo (pork sausage) tasted good. The one problem is had was that the ratio of potato vs chorizo was off. They could have put a more generous portion of chorizo to compliment the potatoes better.
(MORE CHORIZO)

I tried the carne asada plate, meat was well cooked, not dried out & had good taste. So you shouldn't go wrong here with either protein choice.

We ordered cafรฉ de olla which had almost have that ratatouille moment of fireworks ๐ŸŽ†. It was really good. The other thing that caught me here is that they serve "choco-milk". Basically the Mexican version of milk chocolate. Ordered it, loved it, took me back to my younger years.๐Ÿฅ› ๐Ÿง‹ Tjough a bit more choco-milk would be better.

The other point is the menu ๐Ÿ˜‹
Its short & straight to the point. Some places when they give you the menu, it's like they are handing you an encyclopedia. Its almost like, "did i come here to eat or am I at the library ๐Ÿค”?!"

One thing that I noticed is that they're combined 2 things i love. It was a Torta (sandwich ๐Ÿฅช ) with chilaquiles. Did I order it ? No. But I will the next time I go visit. Looks like you can add carne asada on it as well.

Restaurant has been here for close to 2 years & shows to have a strong clientele. As you can see on the menu they have other choices, but their main focus are chilaquiles. The beans are salty so they are. Great for those who watch their sodium. But depending who's cooking, it could be hit & miss.

If you love chilaquiles, than I found a restaurant you may want to visit. The place is kept very simple & clean. You can take your food to go or eat in the dining area. The price isn't outrageous for what you get.

Overall, it was very satisfying & enjoyable. Would i recommend ? Most definitely, especially for breakfast. Staff was courteous & helpful. Money well spent.

Out of 5 spoons ๐Ÿฅ„๐Ÿฅ„ ๐Ÿฅ„ ๐Ÿฅ„ ๐Ÿฅ„
I would rate this at 4.4 spoons.

Hello all.
It's time for another review.

Bambino Felice
La Puente, Ca.

So a buddy of mine was endlessly talking about this place & that we had to go. Said it was this hot new Italian Restaurant. I was in the mood for Pasta, so heck, why not.

We ordered the Chicken Andouille Sausage w/rigatoni pasta, Chicken Alfredo, Pepperoni pizza & a side of Mozzarella Sticks.

Had a salad ๐Ÿฅ—
Salad is SALAD, so no "wow" ๐Ÿ˜ณ factor here.
Im not a salad guy, but it wasn't bad.

The Mozzarella sticks were made with thick breading and a side of Marinara Sauce. Had a nice crunch to it, sauce made it even better. Decent size, they give you 6. So you could easily fill up on these if you wanted.

After this.....um..... it went downhill..... FAST โฉ๏ธ.
Now...understand, everything looked DELISH ๐Ÿ˜‹ !
Keyword being "looked".

The Chicken ๐Ÿ” Alfredo had a vibrant color. The pasta was ok, but was lacking in taste. Could have used more. The chicken did have good flavor to it, but it can't be the only thing that's good. The sauce should have been thick, but it was runny, very runny. On top of that, it was hot....as in super hot temperature ๐ŸŒก ๐Ÿ˜ณ. When we left, about 30 minutes, it was still HOT ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

THE Chicken Andouille Sausage plate disappointed. Pasta had a good texture, but again, the sauce was runny, like water ๐Ÿ’ง. The pasta was like an island ๐Ÿ surrounded by water. It too was still very hot, some flavor, but had to cool it down some. The chicken was bland & the Andouille Sausage wasn't cut by "width", but by "length". Very thin...THIN length cuts. I wish the had cut it into thicker pieces. In fact, i wish they would have put more of the Sausage & chicken in it. Plate was lacking on meat. More runny pasta than anything.

Im thinking they have a pot of already made pasta and the sauce is boiling ๐Ÿค” in a cauldron somewhere.

So both pasta plates were a letdown ๐Ÿ˜”. I really hoped the taste matched the look.

Next was the pizza ๐Ÿ•. One of my main weaknesses & was hoping beyond hope it would save this dinner. Lets just say it had ALOT of flop. Towards the center, it just became SOFT. Cheese was ok, but the sauce again was pretty good. But not good enough to save it. Tasting it reminded me of frozen pizza....kinda like "Celeste pizza". I would had enjoyed it better than this. If you've never had it, try it. At least you know what your getting.

Oh... almost forgot the bread rolls that are usually given at all Italian Restaurants. Bread ๐Ÿฅ– rolls looked appetizing. But theirs that words again.... "looked". After biting into one, i was done. They were soft, but dry. I tried dipping it in the Marinara, but here, their was no saving.

The waiters were really attentive...when they came by. But when needed... ๐Ÿ™„.

I get that they maybe new, I don't know. But it's looking for an identity. Is it Italian? A small sports place ? Fusion of Mexican & Italian?? I just don't know.

So the restaurants name, Bambino Felice, translates into "Happy Child". I can tell you, I was not a "Happy Child ". The price ๐Ÿ’ฒ for this for was $5 to $9 dollars to high. We paid and watched our money๐Ÿ’ธ fly away.

Would i go back ? No.
I couldn't recommend this place. Im sorry, but a new cook is needed.

I kept going back & forth on the pros/cons, so here it is on a scale โš–๏ธ of 1 to 5 spoons ๐Ÿฅ„ .
I can only give it a 1.1 ๐Ÿฅ„

I really hope they fix everything, I like seeing small businesses succeed. This one though needs a life raft.

I mean hey... who doesn't love Tacos.
So for the past years I've been passing this location, but always when it's closed. Not their fault, I just go by when it's not open. But today, I finally caught up with them.

I've heard that they make tacos the same way as in Tijuana, MX. So the 1st item ordered was the "Taco Tijuana ". Hand made tortillas with carne asada beef ๐Ÿฅฉ, guacamole ๐Ÿฅ‘, cilantro & onions ๐ŸŒฐ. After the 1st bite, yes, definitely tastes as its named. That's a good thing. The tortilla has the flavor, the carbs asada has a lil char on some if the edges. I like the char, some may not, but it did give that authentic taste. The guacamole was perfectly made, it's not chunky or runny. It has the right consistency. I always add lemon ๐Ÿ‹ & some salt ๐Ÿง‚. The Tacos are a pretty decent size as well so if you order 2, even 3, it will satisfy your hunger.
The only thing I would say is that I wish the meat would have a lil more flavor, not saying it doesnt have any, just saying a lil more so it could over power the char after taste.

I than ordered a breakfast burrito ๐ŸŒฏ ๐Ÿ˜‹. I asked about the wet burrito & they showed me how big it is. Its huge, so if your REALLY hungry, go for it. The breakfast burrito isn't that big, but its a decent size. Came with carne asada ๐Ÿฅฉ , egg ๐Ÿฅš, potatoes ๐Ÿฅ”, cheese ๐Ÿง€ . Eating this felt like it was made at home. It just really felt .... calming...flavor was good, but it didn't rock you. Which in this case was a good thing. It was just comfortable, took me back when my mom would cook at home. Again, the charcoal was evident, but with the other ingredients, it was hardly noticed. You won't go wrong ordering this to start the day off.

Now, they also provide 3 types of salsa which I tried with the burrito. From left to right, the darker red salsa is your typical chip dip, so it's not hot, but flavorful. The middle one, I should have tried that one last, lol. Its full of anger ๐Ÿ˜ก ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Took a bit to calm it down cause my mouth was in flames ๐Ÿ˜… ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Had to drink Horchata, which was very good by the way. The next salsa was the green salsa, you could say it would fall in the middle of the previous 2. Flavorful but not hot to call the Fire Dept. ๐Ÿš’.

The customer service by the staff was excellent. The ambiance did have that Tijuana flair to it. I've attached pics so you can see the wide range of food selection. Prices could be a bit cheaper, but with prices being high everywhere, it's to be expected.

So overall, my experience here was enjoyable.
Food was good, a bit more flavor, price, service.
They are closed on Sundays. I would go back again & suggest you give it a visit.

On a scale 5 spoons ๐Ÿฅ„ being the best.
I'd rate this place at a 4.1 ๐Ÿฅ„.
