Excited to be at Tuskegee University in Alabama this week. I’m attending the Master Goat Producers Training Certification program. Three days of training on all things Goat. And the best part is sharing the time with friends. Jill and Kris Weiss are graciously hosting me and attending the training too.

It’s been busy here at the farm the last couple of months. We’ve added a few goats, said goodbye to a wonderful dog, and since added more dogs.

We lost our beloved Tucker 2 months ago. He not only left a whole in our hearts but a gap in our livestock security. With Bluezette turning 11 and being semi-retired, Maggie needed some backup. Yesterday we brought home 2 new girls…they are Karakachans, a guardian dog breed from Bulgaria. We are so excited to add Juneau and Kodiak to the LGD team.

We also have added 3 new goats. A young doe, Black Walnut Farm Black Rain. And, a young buck, Black Walnut Farm Classified Information. I couldn’t be happier to have such good genetics to improve the herd. I’m truly honored that Katie and Elizabeth from Black Walnut Farm allowed me to have these beautiful goats.

The 3rd addition is another young buck, Southern Elm Red Thunder. He adds even more diversity to our genetics and is incredibly sweet. I’m grateful to Rod and Brandy at Southern Elm for trusting me with this sweet boy.

We are planning to change our breeding season to kid out in late fall this year. I’ll be deciding breeding pairs in the next week or so. I’m sure the new boys will be happy to go to work. Hopefully we have kids in mid-November before the extreme cold comes.

After all this activity I’ll be having knee surgery in about 2 weeks. That will have me out most of the show season but once I’m recovered I’ll be getting around much better than I am
And ready to show again next year.

Last but by no means least, Jeff is retiring the end of May. He’s happy to become a full time farmer so he can focus on the things he enjoys doing. Our herd of cattle keeps him busy, especially with 10 new calves with 2 more to come. Between the animals and my needs post surgery, Jeff will be plenty busy for the summer.

Sneak peek! Lily had twin bucklings this morning. They were up and running around when I went to the barn for morning chores. She’s such a good mama.

Sadie kidded on March 16th during the really cold weather we had here in Kentucky. She has twins but one didn’t make it. This sweet little girl is doing just fine though and she’s really happy with the warmer weather.

It’s been busy around here and I’m behind with updates. These two cuties were born on March 13th. Poppy blessed us with a blue doeling with light blue eyes, and a tri-color buckling with bright blue eyes. They are doing very well.
