We have had several calls this morning about a Brown Swiss for sale on fb. We have not ever owned Brown Swiss cattle and are not selling any Brown Swiss cattle. Not sure where that info is coming from but its not from our farm. 🤷‍♀️

We currently use AI for our dairy cows but sometimes it’s hard to get it exactly when it needs to be done. We have recently added an A2A2 Guernsey bull calf from Dix Lee Farms. His dam is a2a2 and will be 6 years old in April. She is in her fourth lactation, projected for a 305 day record around 14,500 pounds of milk with a 4.8% butter fat. She is scored VG85, 85 feet and legs composite and 86 mammary system. His sire is Dix-Lee Nate Derek who is a2a2 and was at Masterpiece Genetics. Derek's dam was Dix Lees old cow, Dela EX91 who was AGA Living Lifetime Production winner for several years before she died 2 weeks before she turned 20.
That is a whole lot of cow talk but, needless to say we are excited about his addition to the herd!

So far our Guernseys have abided by this rule :), frequently though we will wake and look out the window and see a tiny a red calf asleep in the pasture.

Our first calf of 2023 was born today. Daisy had a heifer calf this morning. One of the best things about cows is they are great moms, but not aggressive towards humans which is very important for this female farmer.

On this day 93 years ago, a Guernsey cow named Elm Farm Ollie was flown 72 miles over Missouri and milked on the plane as part of a study to observe midair effects on animals. Ollie was a high milk-producing cow and chosen because of her calm nature. To publicize the event, her milk was sealed into cartons and parachuted to spectators below.
