Scenes from harvest. For us this means daily assessing the grapes for ripeness, scouting for bird or raccoon damage, checking the weather forecast, and planning how harvest fits in while being open at our tasting room. Then it’s assembling our team and volunteers, heading out into the rows in the mornings. Clipping, inspecting each cluster, filling buckets, loading bins, driving across the farm to the w**ery. Removing stems, crushing, pressing, stirring, taking stems and pressed grapes back to the fields for compost. Washing all the bins, buckets, clippers, destemmer/crusher, press, hoses, pumps. Then back out to the fields when the next variety is ready. And again and again! It’s not over yet, and it’s been a joy so far. This process - observing the vineyards, hand tending, making w**e steps away from where it’s grown - this is what connects us to the land and creates a true taste of place.
