We had such a blast hosting Art in the Dahlias this past weekend!! Thank you to each and every artist/artisan/maker who put themselves out there by sharing their creations with the Island. It is not easy to sell or market things that you yourself have made - it takes courage and we deeply appreciate the courage you all had to come out to Bainbridge. Thank you to the team at Bainbridge Island Art for an impeccably produced event. Thank you to the musicians who performed and the food and drink vendors who kept us full and caffeinated. And thank you to everyone who showed up and took a walk around the dahlias and a walk around the artist booths! We have a couple notes for the future (we know we have work to do on parking availability and communication!), but by and large this was super successful event for us at the farm and we had a great time hosting, seeing everyone’s faces as they took in our flowers in Teddy the Truck, the joy the field brought, and happy vendors hopefully loading out less on Sunday than they brought in on Friday. This world needs more art, more flowers, more joy being showcased, and that’s what we had at Manzanita this weekend. ✌🏻❤️🌸

It’s SWEET CORN SEASON!! We have been patiently waiting all summer for the first of our sweet corn crop to ripen, and it’s finally here! It is so fresh and sweet that it only needs 2-3 minutes in boiling water ☺️ or you can eat it raw like we do (occasionally) 😬. Stop by our Manzanita Farm during regular dahlia field hours (w-f 10-4, s/s 10-5) to get your hands on an ear or 12! P.S. the dahlias are looking exceptional right now!

The north side of our barn roof is just about complete! We could not be more pleased with how this restoration is looking, though it is certainly a different vibe than the corrugated metal we were working with before. We are rapidly moving toward the completion of the project - but we are still only 82% of the way to our fundraising goal. If you haven’t yet donated but you were planning to - now is the time! Here is the link again for those that need it: https://gofund.me/bcee72651 and you can find it in our bio! We truly appreciate any and every amount donated to make this project happen.

Just some bee b***y and other field friends to brighten your Sunday scaries! Did you know that male bumblebees don’t get to live in the hive? They get kicked out almost immediately after they are able to fly, which is why you see them hanging out and snoozing in flowers! When we find them like this, we let them bee and will deadhead the flowers at a later time. Those sleep hours are important if you want a functional day of collecting nectar and pollen!

The Suyematsu Barn Roof restoration is underway!! 💪🏻Our friends at Marathon Roofing have been at our Manzanita property since Tuesday, removing the sheet metal (installed in the 1960s by Akio) and original shingle roofing (1915). It’s hard work and these guys are total pros - we deeply appreciate their ability to work in really warm, really steep conditions. We are 80% of the way to our goal of $90K. Can you help us get this project over the finish line? Contribute now via this link: https://gofund.me/aa5d7adab (also in our bio on IG).
