DeadOxRanch We're located on the South side of the beautiful Keating Valley, just a mile from Hiway 86, and 15 miles from Historic Baker City.

Mike and Janie Morrissey bought what was to become DeadOxRanch in 1989, and began a total renovation of the blighted property. They are the 4th owners since the property was "broken out" in about 1900. They have attempted to preserve the "aura" of an operating ranch, while bringing the facilities into the 21st century.

Many of you are familiar with the "Chef-Shack", our indoor-outside kitchen... Wellll, apparently, last fall, I failed to properly drain the water system, and it FROZE and broke. Totally. Fortunately, the "system" was not too complicated... but it all has to be replaced... AND, its pretty well buried in the cabinets... The "Good News" is that I'm replacing the broken PVC with "Pex"... much more resilient.

Haven't posted anything creative in a while... This is my UMPTEENTH re-do of the booth in the "Chef-Shack"... I just keep trying to make it better. Well, I may be there now!
The seating is built almost entirely of panel doors, with some antique legs. It had been "done" for a coupla years, BUT it had serious issues concerning accessibility... SOoo, I tore it out, disassembled it, and turned everything upside-down and backwards and put it back. Meanwhile, I knocked down the HUGE (42"x96"w/2, 16" leaves) dining table, cut it down to 30" wide x 90" long, into a "kidney" shape, sanded and refinished it. The upholstery is burlap coffee bags. I think I can live with it now.
