Well that’s a wrap! Harvest 2023 is complete. It started with Barley, then wheat seed and conventional, canola seed, carrot seed, sunflower seed, field corn, and garlic. We could not have done it without a great crew both planting and harvesting, good neighbors, friends, fieldman and partners. Now on to a little custom combine work, fall tillage, and a lot of cleanup. Side note: Kate and Dana have harvested and canned pickled cucumbers, Bloody Mary mix, cowboy candy, and peppers. Thanks to everyone for their help.

Our garlic is bulking nicely. At least 40days from harvest. Water has been cut for three weeks. It will translocate all the nutrients out of the leaves to the cloves.

Perhaps you don’t understand the difference in timing in ag…. That line in the field is 12hrs difference in planting. Our crew goes a ridiculous amount of hours this time of year. We have experienced some of the most extreme conditions for our planting season this year. However, when it’s go time this demonstrates why we go so hard. This is 12hrs tops difference in planting timing. Our crew understands this but keep it in the back of your mind when you consider voting for overtime in ag. Our people do not ask for more money, but they are always in to get the crop planted. If the farm makes money, they do as well. We couldn’t find better people to work with.
