It’s fair week… on top of the chaos of the kids FFA and 4-H projects and animals, we also have a derby car and 2 herbie cars to get ready and finished. AND… the kids bought a bunch of RC Demolition derby cars, we took them to Bowman last weekend so we have repairs to do to them before Baker’s fair this weekend.

And the news I don’t even want to type, Iggi passed away today. She had been completely fine, I milked her yesterday and didn’t notice anything off. When I looked in the fridge this morning the milk from yesterday had a pink tinge to it. When I went to milk her this morning she was slightly bloated, didn’t eat, the back of her bag was cut a tiny bit, but one quarter’s milk was bloody. The vet came out and treated her for milk fever and gave her some antibiotics. She perked up and was walking around acting normal. She was up walking after 3 when I checked and when I went to check her at 7:30 she was laying in the barn dead.

I will still have plenty of milk but my morning milkings just won’t be the same.

Sorry for the lack of milk the last couple weeks, we have been going nonstop! We will be back in business tomorrow! I know it’s only Tuesday but this week has already been crazy!

The fridge has milk! 3 full gallons and 4 half gallons. There is still some cream too! I had to pull in the big cows to get a little extra to get ahead! Iggi just hasn’t been able to keep up since we got back from all our travels!

There is a full gallon and a half gallon of cream line milk
at the drug store.
Also a quart and pint of cream.

It has been a week of learning at the funny farm this week. Last week I got a text from a gal that is here working as a traveling nurse. She had purchased some milk and asked the ladies at. Baker Drug if they thought I’d be willing to let her come out and see what I do. She came out Saturday and we milked Iggi and checked out the rest of the funny farm.
Yesterday Harper learned how to milk Iggi in the morning and last night one of our neighbor’s daughter and granddaughters were here this week and the oldest wanted to learn how to milk, as grandma had bought some milk for them to try when they were here. We first ran Tinkerbelle in and Hadley milked her, then we put the machine on her and Iggi. They had been in with calves until 3 when I got their electric fence up so we didn’t get much but enough that they had some to take with them for breakfast today!

I turned the cows out early today and will milk a couple tonight to get more milk and try to get ahead, as you, my amazing customers, are buying it as soon as I get it in the fridge!
