After the storm clouds cleared out and all the fences were free from downed trees, the goats were turned out into a new (to them) pasture temporarily. As I was getting ready to go back to the barn, I saw across the pen the flowers were blooming for the first time this year in the “cactus field”. And Yes, cacti do grow in Illinois. These are some of the prickly pear cacti that grow around our farm and they will only bloom 1x a year.

It was a nice surprise to find today after having so much cleanup following this mornings storms.

Started off our Spring Kidding season with a set of triplets. We have been on kid watch for the past couple days knowing several were looking close but this little momma sure gave us a surprise this morning. She popped out all three little babies within 45 minutes. They are sure smaller than our typical babies but they just couldn’t wait any longer to join us! 🤍🐐
