Oh hey, it’s been awhile 👋

We’ve been busy growing the next generation of dairy farmers (🤞)

We survived winter and are preparing for springs work. We have also been going through the process of updating our CAFO permit. For those that don’t know, a CAFO is a concentrated animal feeding operation based on animal units. Because of our herd size, we fall into this category and must have a permit to operate our business.

Every 5 years requires an update to ensure best practice for manure and waste management. We work closely with the DNR and are typically given a list of changes to be made in order to receive a permit renewal.

With that being said, we have a few big projects coming up. We plan to add a free-stall barn to relocate part of our herd and create a more comfortable space for some of our girls. 🐮 Over the next three years, we will also be upgrading our manure storage and storm water collection systems.

It seems overwhelming at the moment, but we are committed to cow comfort, quality milk, and sustainable practices. 🥛🌽🐄❤️

We had a great weekend at the District Holstein show with my nieces. I’m so proud of their hard work and love seeing a growing passion for dairy within them. The quality of breeders and cattle in our district is outstanding- hence our slogan 🤗
